Some of the tops fighters have a couple of loses. Nate Campbell and Tony Margarito are top fighters right now in their division and they have 5 loses in their record. A loss is not the end of the world.

Depends on how they lose really. No one thinks the world of Lacy anymore. He is even in the Urban dictionary.

yes. Fans overreact when a boxer loses and underreact when he gets injured.

case in point: Jeff Lacy gets beaten by Calzaghe from pillar to post. In his next fight against Vitaly Tsypko, Jeff Lacy tears his left rotator cuff and then undergoes surgery and 12 months of rehab.

What ruined him more? Obviously the injury to his left shoulder that would prevent him from fully utilising one of his best weapons for the rest of his career right? no, it was the loss to Calzaghe. :patsch

Doesn't change the fact that most don't think the world of Lacy after the Calzaghe fight.

Summa summarum: my statement still goes...

Meldrick Taylor never really recovered either...

Yes 100% overreaction. They toss the boxer to the garbage can and jump on the next bandwagon.

Look how long it is between 36 minute fights. Months of anticipation. This isn't like baseball where you can just say, "We'll get them in tomorrow's game" if you lose. Plus, there may never be a rematch of that fight. Isn't this what being a fan is all about?:huh

Absolutely, nowdays 1 loss spells the end to a careers chance of being great. At least in the eyes of most fans.
