Do we put too much stock in a fighter who takes out Goliath and ignore the guy who took out the slick and cagey David?

    And if so....should we?

Far too many variables to say. To the casual fan I would say the former though.

I'll take skills over power all day...I find it hard to admire a power puncher because you either have power or you don't whereas skill and technique takes years to hone and perfect.

It all depends on the fighters involved, at the moment, whoever manages to defeat Mayweather will, according to jow public, have the bigger achievment than say the person who beats Arthur Abraham.

I say a skilled boxer because if you can take a punch than you can proabably beat that puncher.

    Hard one.

Example: Hatton gets more credit for beating a getting on a bit Tzsyu who we all knew hit like a mule than he does for beating a good boxer in Malignaggi.

It's the opposite of the original post. Beating the top skilled boxer gets more respect than beating the top puncher.

beating a skilled fighter gets alot of credit since, big punchers only rely on one lucky punch to win while the skilled fighter will make you desperate coz u will never gonna hit him clean.

since this is boxing i think that get more credit for beating a boxer don't they?

the thing with big punchers is that sooner or later they get exposed for their lack of skills.

Of course it's true that a skilled weak chinned fighter gets more credit for beating a puncher than another skilled fighter it usually is the other way around.

So beating a skilled fighter is asually the best accomplishment but not always.

If this thread is about Marquez and Margarito then the reason for Mosley getting more credit has to do with Marquez traveling so far north to fight Mayweather who came in as a full welter.

Boxers get more credit for beating oppoents who are considered better than they are. Rrgaurdless of styles.

  14. To casual fans and mma fans, beating a big punch gives u more credit. To pure boxing fans and good analyst, its about beating a skilled fighter.

Marquez was was weighing in the 140's on fight when he was figthing at 130. But anyway I don't see how this thread could be about since Margacheato was definitely not what you would call a bug puncher even with the plaster.
