Do fighters get more credit for beating a Big Puncher or Skilled Boxer?

I'm thinking about great wins over boxers that are underrated... Frazier's surely get its due.

But all in all I agree that it's the wins over the big punchers that mezmerise people.

 

I never said Ali didn't deteriorate massively, i just said overall i think he was still better.

Oh & if Tyson was "physically the same" then why did he have only 8 rounds of a very low punch-output (about 20 per round), while receiving no body punches, before he became completely exhausted?
Why was he sluggish & lethargic, sleepwalking in every round but the 8th?

Compare this to the Ruddock rematch, where he had a good punch-output for 12 rounds, despite taking monstrous bombs to the body during the brutal slugfest war, which broke 3 of his ribs.
The final 3 rounds were actually among his best, with the 12th showing particular ferocious freshness.

Ali suffered permanent damage from his layoff, but at least he trained for a war with Frazier.

Tyson 'trained' for a very early blowout against Douglas, & stupidly kept waiting in front of Buster as a stationary target, guard down, attempting to launch a singular telegraphed haymaker, after Douglas had throw his razor sharp one-twos & combos.

 

This thread shouldn't turn into this discussion. But Tyson throwing little and tiring quickly could just have something to do with Douglas' jabs and right crosses turning his head into a boxing ball...

For me this is a fantastic win for Douglas. Tyson actually had one of his best, and probably most underrated, perfomances only six months prior. The way he dispatched of Williams was in its way almost as masterful as the Spinks demolition.

 

Everyone knew the Truth was a sucker for a left hook. Spinks was unconscious. Carl should have been allowed to continue. It was a nice counter nonetheless.

 

Right on both accounts. But I still like how Mike moved in steadily while waiting for that opening, finding it and capitalizing perfectly in just some 90 seconds.
