I hope judges aren't getting into this for the money. Like any other job, they are aware of the salary when they take the job.

I do see what you are saying, but I don't know if paying them more in the answer.

for what fights. He just posted the links where Bayless got only 10k for one of the biggest fights in history and Weeks got 3100. They wont get bribed like a judge would though

Most judges are retired and nearing death look at the ages of the judges, they just do it to have something to do and not sit at home.

thats not true. thats just on the elite level because you have to have a million years of experince but you will see younger or middle aged people at smaller local fights. my girl and her dad are licensed judges. they do it for the love because they dont get paid enough or have enough shows.

Im not complaining about it but people have to understand that it opens up the door for other things to happen. Its like steroids in baseball. You can say that you have morals and wouldnt do it but if you are a fringe guy who will never make it pro and you knew that if you take these roids, you could make it pro and get millions to set you for life, that would be hard to turn down. Same for gettting 20k per fight for 5 fights compared to 3k.

Thats 100k compared to 15k when in probably 4 of those fights, the bribed guy will win anyways. Most of the times the bribe is just a backup plan because they are usually for the better fighter. Again, Chavez is the star with the big money and he should win anyways but you bribe the judge just incase he screws up. 9 times out of 10 chavez wins that type of fight outright so you get paid a ton and didnt have to fix it anyways

no one is getting bribed in these big fights. in this day of cameras and mics everywhere, electronic paper trails, we have not ever had 1 person accused much less have evidence pointing they took a bribe. calm down conspiracy theorist.

Its just another example of our society $$$$$$$$$$$ is the ultimate goal. Gone is the day when a fighter was proud to be called a champion now its just the $$$
Look at the ridiculous scoring for boxing at the Olympics? that was done because they couldn't trust any judges to give an honest decision. People will take someones life to steal $10 today

They know how to score fights! CJ Ross knows her scorecard is garbage!

It's all about corruption. The judges score the fight the way their corruptor tells them to. Money is all they care about, not what a bunch of boxing fans on ESB think of them.

Judges make very little money, and so it's easy to bribe them. These judges almost always have a day job. If you're CJ Ross, and some gang comes to you and pays you 200 grand to score the Canelo-Floyd fight a draw, of course you're gonna say yes, since you're being paid much less to score the fight honestly. And the gang will then bet a huge sum on Floyd by MD, and that's how boxing really becomes profitable. Of course, it might have been Oscar who paid her off, or the casinos. Motive matters!

Please people, listen to Teddy Atlas on episode 24 of Mouthpiece Boxing Radio Show, where he talks about how judges get bought. I don't understand how an intelligent person can watch these robberies for years - even decades - and never realize that it's about corruption. The judges know their scorecards are absurd, but they get so many "gifts" (read "bribes") from the promotor, that they can't refuse protecting the promotor's cash cow.

youre a dumb ass if you believe that.

there has never been one disgruntled judge or official to make 1 accusation even anonymously to bring any truth to your theory of being 10 times worse today. No chatter, no suspects, and damn sure no evidence. its just a big fairy tale if you believe that all of this corruption is going on and everyone is tight lipped and dont say a word about it! :rofl
even the mob and the toughest street gangs these days have snitches when they become disgruntled. You would have some high paid judge demanding to be a part of every big fight as often as he could in order to take this "bribe money". but no, they are gonna take this to their graves and make dummies like you think they are being given envelopes of cash with a wink and a nod :rofl
im sure you believe in UFO's and Bigfoot too....maybe even Jesus.

Or instill a culture of honor and shame, making them want to punish themselves.

then how do you explain something like 59 press scores, 53 are for Vera, 6 a draw, and 0 for Chavez but the judges have it 8-2 & 7-3?

How do you explain some of the blatent robberies that arent even close?

I disagree about people snitching. I think if anything its the exact reverse. 1st of all it wouldnt be a direct thing with a promoter to a judge. It would be like 10 people down the line. No way you would be able to connect the promoter or whoever to it. Then if you tell in boxing, there is a 99.9% chance that nothing would come of it and you will be blackballed. Therefore you are taking a huge risk of being blackballed and for what? Youre the one getting the money so why tell?

Even if they were proven correct, who would hire them to judge a fight after that? No one. They would never get a big fight again. Also, a ton of other judges would hate them because they would never be able to get that big money again. I just think there have been way way way too many obviously horrible decisions for us to be naive in thinking that these judges just saw the fight a different way or dont know how to score.

I mean, this even a big fight thing. It happens from the ground roots up. Its even more prevelent on the local level. The local big money star will hardly ever lose at home. This is where all these judges start. Theyve been doing this for a long time. Sure there are some or even a ton of judges with principles & morals but there are definitely some who would take it and IMO there are definitely some who would offer it.

Maybe not even the promoters but other kinda people. There are alot of people who have reasons to offer a bribe to benefit a certain fighter
