Do legendary fights get undue credit 'cause they sounded so exciting on the radio?

Boxing on Radio isnt as active nowadays, compared to before. I havent heard a lot of them.

The radio ones that I've heard live were pretty crappy blow by blow broadcasting.

Local Philippine fights. Really bad, amateurish stuff.

AM radio commentators, forced to become boxing sportscasters, overnight.

The most recent big fight that I heard was the Hatton-Pacquiao British radio broadcast, and it was pretty good. Better than the TV guys, I thought.

can't say that i've heard any fight in full on the radio save louis/schmeling 2.

i've seen footage of fights from the radio era and from the looks of it, they were more exciting than they sounded

I remember being on the edge of my seat for Hopkins vs Howard Eastman on BBC radio.

There's something great about radio boxing broadcasts

If you suck at radio play by play, the whole broadcast will suffer. So becoming good is a necessity. Even the average ones are pretty good.

The TV guys, they don't need to be very good to be on air.
