The debate seems to go on and on about the two sports. I like both and am a fan of each. I see a cross over effect and many similarities in them.
I like both sports. But I like more MMA because we get to see much more the best vs the best, and theyre only 1 champs by one weight class... The problem with the multiple belt in boxing is killing me.
Ive been a diehard boxing fan since 96 so of course I do. The majority of the guys at my MMA gym are huge boxing fans. But of course theres a handfull of uneducated about boxing people who just try and trash the sport for its flaws but id have to say theres a hell of alot more boxing fans who do the same but I think alot of it is they allow the MMA will kill Boxing crap to take over their head so they gotta be very defensive and anti MMA.
I was an MMA fan before I started following boxing regularly. I started studying the great boxers in order to improve my hand skills - then I just fell in love with the sport and started watching every boxing match I could find. I can't say that I love one more than the other - they are fights to me and I enjoy watching them.
Most of the MMA fans on this board (me included) watch boxing on a regular basis. That's why it's irritating when the "BOXING IS BETTER THAN MMA" threads started by idiots on the main board end up here. Most of us are sick of debating it. We like both sports, so why the hell argue which is better? I also like hockey and football, and no one says to me, "ZOMG FOOTBALL RULZ HOCKEY." They're all different sports, and I like watching them for their differences.
In my experience, hardcore old school MMA fans like boxing. IMO it's the bandwagon MMA fans that came in because of TUF who trash boxing and regurgitate the nonsense that Dana White has spewed over the years. But then again, the trash talk from boxing fans regarding MMA is just about as silly and just as prevalent.
Spot on. The **** talking happens on both sides, and it's usually the more casual, uneducated fans doing it. I don't get why people can't see them as two different sports. I appreciate them both for what they are. Boxing takes a ton of skill because the limits the fighters have. MMA has more variables, and thus, can be more of a crapshoot. They're both fun for their differences.
I love both sports but I was boxing fan way before I was MMA fan. Honestly I think MMA is more entertaining with lower level skilled fighters. When it's 2 bad boxers... its just 2 bad boxers out there. When it's 2 bad MMAist they might have strong point and can match up good.
Same with me I grew up as a kid watching Tyson make noise and was a fan ever since, of course the corruption in boxing turns alot of people off and when the first UFC came out I watched it and have been a fan ever since. The term "baddest man on the planet" had a whole new meaning.
