Do most trainers have as much fight selection input as Roach seems to have?

Just wondering. Particularly Robert Garcia at the moment with the potential fight with Pavlik and Ward. Roach seems to have veto power if he doesn't like the fight for his guy. He first OK'd Pavlik/Jr but changed his mind and that fight got dropped when Arum was trying to lure Pavlik to stay at MW.

Roach has obviously made a few mistakes recently. During the JR/Martinez fight he admitted Martinez was faster than he thought. WTF? Most of the boxing world knew Martinez was a lot faster than JR could deal with.

In a recent interview Kelly said Robert is the only one he hears from now about fights, no direct contact with TR or Dunkin it seems.

I think he also functions as a manager for his boxers. I think Emanuel Steward dose as well.

Numerous times he's said "I liked X fight better because of X reason."

I'd be surprised if he was actually doing both. He doesn't seem like he has that much insight into that end of the business. Let alone time.
