People are still comparing the size of his fanbase to Wilder, and people are claiming that he's nowhere near the fanbase that the Klitschko's had and is pretty much identical to Wilder. More people watched Joshua v Klitschko than any of Klitschko's previous fights....in Germany alone 25% more viewers (Over 10 million) were watching compared to Klitschko vs Fury. Klitschko came away with a career high purse too. Even in the US they broke records. Only the first time in History have both Showtime and HBO paid for rights to a fight containing no American fighter. With the fight also holding the record on showtime for the highest ever viewership for an afternoon broadcast. (Over 700,000 viewers). Maybe it's just jealousy from non-europeans....But Joshua is the current 'mayweather' of the sport. The facts speak for themselves.
I'm not sure what 'business aside' you're referring to..... I'm simply pointing out that clearly non-europeans, specifically Americans, don't understand that we haven't had a heavyweight with this draw since Ali.
If anyone thinks to compare Wilder's drawing power to Joshua's they're an idiot full stop, and no more needs to be discussed with them.
