Apologies if I have misinterpreted. I thought that you said somewhere that he was trying to grow the sport and that is what you meant to "investing in the sport" and/or "investing in boxing".

I think that there is a difference between investing in his business which happens to be in boxing, and investing in boxing. If he truly cared about the latter, then it may actually in turn strengthen his profits, but like most salespeople they are looking for the quickest pound note to come their way.

The only thing Dill has found hard in his career is getting his cycles right. Busted twice and now having a fight in a location with less stringent testing.

But a domestic level two time drugs cheat being on PPV helps grow the sport apparently.

You won't cope without dope at the highest levels of sport. Don't blame Whyte for that.

Anti-doping policy and governance is not only ineffective but incredibly corrupt.

But none of those sports are pay-per-view per match.

I don't care what Whyte gets paid. You keep saying 100,000.

100,000 just a realistic figure whyte would be paid on non ppv event. I dont think sky sports would do that with any kind of regularity tho tbh. Gonna cost sky something like 400,000 to put on a saturday night 2 hour fight every second week to please the market of say 4 percent that actually buys sky sports for boxing.

Your saying no ppv. How much are you paying whyte and povetkin then and who,s paying for it.

I would not pay them any more than say Bakole v Hunter purses at the York Hall.

Headlined now by Willy Hutchison v Lennox Clarke in a grudge match and looking forward to watching Nathan Gorman in action against Pavel Sour. Frank has had a few fights postponed due to Covid/Injuries but great to see him get boxing on BT Sports to watch again tonight.

The point about the subscription is correct and that is why I feel it is wrong to charge subscribers more to watch sport already paid for.

So joshua gets 50 million for ruiz and whyte gets 50,000 for povetkin.

And snooker players make 40 million over a career.

So if whyte and povetkin get 50,000. How much does dubois get who,s beat no one. Or david price who,s also beat no one. How much does he get per fight...10 grand. What about the lower weights....if they beat parker, chisora x 2, rivas and fight povetkin and joshua level opponents...they get how much. Bearing in mind theres more interest in heavyweight boxing. Your talking about most fighters pretty much being part time fighters.

I think the reality of it is people underestimate the level and work it takes to become amongst the best in the world.

Most people buy SKY sports for football, but that doesn't mean other sports don't add value.
SKY almost always put these types on fights on their ordinary sports channels until very recently, so I'm not even sure what your justification is.

The truth is, UK boxing has almost destroyed itself with the PPV model, to the point where you can start to believe "no one cares about boxing enough for non-PPV", "it's not worth SKY's investment" etc.
You're confusing the cause and the effect.

The same advertisers and subscribers who pay for other sports will pay for it. And it will be a better trusted product and respected by, and exposed to, a wider audience.

But promoters prefer to run it like a sleazy clip joint through the PPV model.

Look what subscription without ppv has got you. Has frank had 4 or 5 headline fights postponed with covid. This is pretty much exactly my point.

Also if whyte gets 50,000 for povetkin how much is poor nathan gorman getting for his fight from you. Bloody hell mate.

Anthony Joshua is an exceptional case. He's a superstar. He's also a world champion.

It's like saying a good well-trainer character actor who's regularly on television should be on X amount because Tom Cruise gets Y amount.

Dillian Whyte versus Alexander Povetkin II is just a regular decent international heavyweight fight.
A good British level fighter versus a 41 year old veteran contender.

Mate its not about dillan whyte...it could be him or anyone else in that position. I m not dillon whytes number one fan or anything. But you cant pay guys that are top ten in the whole world in the heavyweight division 50,000 to fight. A guy thats had to fight....chisora x 2. Parker. Joshua. Rivas. Povetkin to get to that point.

A guy thats spent years building up his profile as well taking countless amounts of abuse over social media etc.

I m not fussed who wins tonight anyway cause I like povetkin...guys a proper hard fella.

Come off it how much of a superstar is he? He got mangled by ruiz. Struggled against klitchko. Was hurt against whyte. Struggled against povetkin. I respect it because these guys are good fighters but hes only a superstar because eddies told you he is and hes been marketed brilliantly from the get go.

Hes allright to come off the back of a ruiz defeat to make 50 million. But whyte has to earn 50 grand for povetkin.

Joshuas probably worth his money because he makes that on ppv...but so does whyte tbf. You cant be paying joshua 50 million and whyte 50,000 tho. Or even 10 million and 50,000. And thats exactly why guys like whyte should be on ppv.

Superstars get 50 million. The guys not far below them get 50 grand. Great sport that. 2 or 3 guys in the whole world get unbelievable money everyone else needs a part time job. Boxing will be thriving before long.
