i believe this is a do or die year for cotto, if he gets past mayorga he faces margarito in a massive rematch in june in nyc, if he wins that he is likely to face martinez sometime between sept-nov, where in his career does this put him at if he is successful in all 3 bouts in 2011? also does this put him at p4p top 3? and honestly without any hate do you think he wins all three fights?and why....

    Face Martinez?

he better just keep doing exciting fights on a B level like the two guys you named and stay away from the elites before someone hurts him.

UD's Mayorga.....UD's Margarito (Plaster Free) and then Martinez KO's him... Which would be upsetting, but if he did pull it off, he would be a 4 weight champ!!

Beats Mayorga and the non plastered hand wrap version Margarito both by late KO! Just too much skill for these two.

But Sergio puts the beats on him I think unlesss Sergio is damaged and softened up by someone before they meet!!! Sergio should fight Dimitri Pirog in my humble opinion.

I will be at the Margarito fight live!! No question.

He'll barely get by Mayorga, and gets beat by Margo again. I pray to god he never makes it to Martinez, for Miguel's sake.

Well let me first say fighting a past it Mayorga and an equally limited Margarito who already beat Cotto will do nothing for his career, the fight with Mayorga is 50/50 for me, if Ricardo comes motivated and in shape it could spell KO for Cotto, if he isn't in shape he gets outboxed and possibly stopped.

The fight with Margarito i just see Cotto loosing this fight again period, he didn't show me he could hurt Tony and from round one until he quit Cotto was fighting going backwards which is not good against Tony especially when you can't hurt him.

What Cotto needs is to fight some of these young gunz like Alvarez, Angulo, Martirosyan, Lara and Berto to show he can still compete, these fights are good for boxing, Mayorga and Margarito are not.

If I were him, I'd be chomping at the bit for a rematch with Margarito. He outboxed Margarito most of the fight and he likely figures Margarito's hands were illegally wrapped resulting in the stoppage. I'd really be anxious to get after him after his showings with Mosely and Pacquaio.

I think Cotto's way too slick for Mayorga to give him a good fight and believe Cotto will KO him no later than the 9th round. Mayorga doesn't have a lot of skills from what I've seen of him and Cotto is a hell of a boxer with decent power.

He should dispose of Mayorga pretty easily, and if he beats Margarito, he'd have achieved what's required of him. But a Sergio Martinez would be too much. Way too much.

Cotto will destroy Mayorga in my view.

However, Miguel does fight at one pace, a slow burn from round 1 to 12. When someone upsets the rythm, he struggles to maintain his momentum (Pacquiao+Margarito).

The rematch with Margarito really does depend on how much Tony has left. I think he has next to nothing left, a spent force, and Cotto would UD him clearly.

As for Martinez, he is capable of switching up the tempo in his fights, that combined with speed, southpaw stance and a good gas tank = Martinez Tko Cotto, I'm sorry to say.

I don't see Cotto getting caught with an extreme loaded up shot from Martinez like Williams did. I still think Martinez may be too big. I'd give Cotto a chance. I think Martinez is a bit overrated. Anybody that Pavlik can time, doesn't have great defense.

To me, Cotto's legacy as a man always willing to face the best and usually come out ahead is secure. I put him in the Hall of Fame five years after he hangs up the gloves.

2011 will set up the remainder of Cotto's career. Is he a legitimate veteran or still a major player? Beating Mayorga and Margo does nothing to answer that question. However, losing to Martinez will.

i dont agree, i think beating margarito does wonders, for his confidence more than his career
