No, there's not a big stretch from using IV that's illegal because it's a way to hide doping and actually hiding doping. It's a quite short stretch.

I'm always more than slightly suspicious when it comes to athletes and PEDs, but we know for a fact that he had an injury and this seems to have been connected to that.

Floyd's IV doesn't seem to have a good connections to anything other than masking PEDs.

    Thanks for this.

Unfortunately, something went awry with the link (i.e. "Your session has timed out. Please go back to the article page and click the PDF link again.")

I will do some research later but, from what I am gathering, it is not a performance enhancer per se.

It would be used as part of some kind of pain relief; pain management being the basis for many a TUE, I should imagine.

Not in the same ballpark as an IV, which should only be administered in a medical emergency - the kind that would normally require hospitalization.

    A long link. Try here.

It's anti-inflammatory, so it should help with swelling and pain/discomfort, I think.

It might be, but if Mayweather wanted to juice himself silly it'd probably be much easier and best not to insist on random testing.

Many use an IV drip to hydrate and get nutrients into the body. We used an IV drip to get my pregnant girlfriend to get fluids into her body.

He might have had an injury. Or he might have used the excuse of injury to dope.

In many sports IV drips have been used to infuse water and nutrients into the bloodstream

Yeah, hydrate or mask a diuretic used to make weight would be most likely. Nobody pumps themselves full of PEDs right before fight night. And Mayweather never had an issue making welter.

It's obvious Floyd was juiced up to his eyeballs.

Not if he has found a good way to juice undetected. Will give him an edge if the other guy hasn't found this way.

Yes, when you're severly dehydrated. Floyd is one of the guys that drains the least, so it seems strange that he of all people should have need of an illegal IV.

I haven't hear that even the biggest drainers uses IVs like this.

As a doctor then you should know that Floyd's/NSAC claim that he needed an illegal 750 ml of saline because of dehydration is pure unadulterated Bull Feces. A Joke ROFL To be in that state he'd be in ICU while they fought to save his kidneys. Iknow, you know, EVERYONE including the NSAC know why Floyd cheated with that saline. It had NOTHING to do with being dehydrated thats for sure
The fact he was allowed to get away with it by the commission is blatant corruption

Sports people have used IV Drips for a long time to get nutrients and water released into the body. Sports clubs sports have since at least the 90s.

You're making a big assumption that he's using an IV drip to circumvent a drugs test. Where as he could circumvent drugs tests by not having random testing, which is far far far easier.

This is way too much of a conspiracy theory for my money.
