Because lots seem to think Bhop deserved the win for pretending to be injured, hugging calzaghe all fight, complaining of low blows. Joe was trying to make the fight he was the one coming forward pressurising hopkins, trying to open up the fight only to be held at every opportunity. Much has been made on here about Hatton and his so called holding of opponents and roughing them up etc That gets condemnation on here, yet Bhop it seems it is acceptable for him to have fought joe like that and he should have got the decision for it. And now Bhop has the utter nerve to demand a rematch  Who exactly would want to see another episode of dancing with the stars as bhop attempts to do the tango with calzaghe. Seeing that he was the Ring light heavyweight champion Bhop fought like he wanted to just survive and steal a decision and its the way he has fought many of his fights. I just find it really interesting that his style in that fight seemed to be condoned
did you see the fight saturday?? roy did nothing to limit calzaghe's workrate and jus let calzaghe tee off on him bernard fought the best strategy he can at 43. Let me ask you this when was the last time you saw joe slowed like he was in that fight? now im not condoning what he did in terms of the low blows but i actually do think if he hadnt have pulled those stunts people would less resentful of arguing that he won and he'd have stood a better chance of being given a rematch
Its a valid point and another example in the long list of hypocrisy on teh American Forum. BHop was waiting for JC to tire and pick him off with one counter punch a round, but unfortunately joa has a) world class stamina and b) a world class beard so neither of those things happened
It was lets say effective for Bhop, boring for the audience and very frustrating for Calzaghe. Yes of course it was effective but was that the performance of a man that deserved to keep his title?
In discussing Huggybear Hopkins, nobody ever mentions that holding is Illegal. He only gets away with it because he's Hopkins. Force him to obey the rules and Calzaghe destroys him.
bhop did nothing to warrant winning....he looked horrible and didnt deserve for the fight to be as close as it was
Its about the only time he attacked lol Good shot he caught joe with of course, but he needed to show more than survival the rest of the night.
And lets not forget who the ref was ! Joe cortez a man who refused to let hatton hold at any time in the PBF fight yet misteriously allowed it for hopkins.
it was dissappointing. the thing is people want to think he can beat calzaghe in a rematch but he should have got it done the first time. calzaghe is not even interested in arematch. so as it stands cal-1 hop-0
you forgot : c. no world class opposition. if you want label views hypocrytical dont forget to throw that back on your boy too.
Calzaghe did little more than land a few (very, very, very few) "slaps" (as everyone calls them), about 800 rabbit punches, and a handful of low blows on Hopkins - whilst getting utterly embarrassed. Hopkins did the only meaningful work in that fight; dropping Calzaghe, and landing good heavy, solid punches. Hopkins unquestionably won that fight according some of the most credible observers in boxing. Dan Rafael, BTW, won't stop talking about how he believes Calzaghe lost to Hopkins, mentioning it several times in the last week. Anybody who talks about any of Hopkins' antics in the Calzaghe fight is making needless excuses, and clearly knows nothing about his career or character. Bernard has completely flopped out of the ring before, pretending he was pushed.. He's a gigantic clown at times - but nobody can question his ring acumen, and overall mastery of the sport. H2H Hopkins made Calzaghe look like a rank amateur and complete fool. The fight itself tells the story.
