This fight did not warrant a rematch at all. B-Hop impressed me by dropping JC and limiting his output, but I he didn't win any rounds. In fact he pretty much did same thing against JT 2 times by not throwing many punches. The only reason more people picked Taylor as the winner was because he is American. Calzaghe easily pulled off the most decisive win over hops since RJ beat him. He didn't make b-hop look washed up, but there should be no question who the winner was. The fact it was a split decison was pretty ludicrous IMO.

Why do you suppose there IS a question who the winner was? There may not be any question for you, but there are major questions with some of the best minds on these online forums, and in the international world of the sport itself. Any ideas?

So a guy who hugs feigns injury, hardly throws anything after the initial first round knockdown deserves a decision over a guy pressurising the entire fight on the front foot forcing the fight.
Thank god the judges saw what Bhop was trying to do, trying to get points taken off calzaghe, headbutting calzaghe, holding and trying to steal the fight.
Unfortunately that night the only ones robbed were the fans of a good fight due to his negative antics.

Calzaghe won clearly! I'm not English nor American! Hopkins made it competitive and won maximum 4 rounds for me!

I think seeing Joe in close fight to many means that he was beaten but he wasn't!

Edit: I'm not from UK!

calzaghe outworked hopkins, but looked like a ****in ***** doing it from the way he was throwing those ***** punches. Im not saying he cant punch as he busted up Roy but he was throwing some pretty sissy punches against hopkins. Regardless he won the fight, but the person who wins isnt always the better man and that was clearly proven that night.

There is a question because most of these fans and some writers have a "thing" for a particular fighter or maybe just don't like one of them at all. Plus it's a bit of an exaggeration the the international world of sport is split on the Calzaghe-Hopkins fight. I'll admit that the online forums are split, but that is mostly due to nationalism on both sides. We saw how accurate and unbiased the forums in their pics for the Cotto-Margo fight (mostly Cotto) and the Pavlik-Hops fight (mostly Pavlik). There were even quite a few posters who actually thought RJ could possibly turn back the clock and beat Calzaghe.

Are you kidding me? Ruiz has been ridiculed as having the worse huggy style ever of any boxer. He is ridiculed across the usa.

Hatton is simply a little ruiz.

I couldn't agree more and I'm an American! This fight played out exactly how I thought it would. You can wait on a guy and make him pay with a few sharp counters, but you have to do it enough to win the majority of the rounds. While he was waiting JC was putting in the work and banking more rounds. I fail to see how anyone could make the case for Hops winning more rounds when he finished so poorly in the fight.

And to respond to the original poster. Bhop has one of the most boring, cheating styles in boxing. After many of his title defense he was ridiculed by many of us for his technique. Bhop will do whatever he can geta way with and cheat as long as he doesnt get caught.

    It is terribly effective though.

Give it a rest. Bhop WAS hit low and we don't know how much damage it did BUT he MOST LIKELY "MILKED" the low blows. big deal. Calzaghe is exhuasting to fight and fought like a sissy for parts of the hopkins fight (w/ sissy slaps mixed in with more legitimate punches) so give the old man a break if he wants to take a little extra time before going back to dodging calzaghe's whirlwin "punches." Neither Hopkins or Calzaghe should be applauded for the way they fought in their fight, but please stop crying about hopkins and low blows.

hopkins got hit the most in his career jones got hit the most and yes hopkins needed that breather bad otherwise it would be goodnight there is no doubt u guys had lacy and kessler favored just to say there no good ,sad mindset sorry
b hop fought the same like against taylor throwing one punch a time u can't win that way the only judge that had it for hopkins was black by the way and adaleid byrd favored taylor in there fight because she felt more sympathy for the younger one, this should of never be a SD but we don't have not to argue it's in the books and calzaghe will be remembered as a undefeated fighter!!!!!!when b hop is seventy he will be to old to tell people otherwise!!!!!!!tell everybody how he got robbed!!!!!
