Actually I have boxed and been in the ring and been hit by a professional heavyweight. But that is not what makes the statistic relevant. Its the point that anyone (especially those who have never fought) can say anything to suit there own agenda without knowing what the man in the ring actually felt. Seems you're one of them.
While Wilder may get hate for doing the same thing almost every other fighter does, it seems he has been taking soft touches to protect his chin which is allegedly abysmal.
His chin isnt the best and it isnt the worst. As far as who he's fighting, I just think his team is building his stock the way many others have done. This is a guy with potential but not a lot of experience. Boxing is a business and in business you need to build your product up in order to sell it to the masses. Just my two cents.
Funny reading this all the people in denial about Wilder hitting the deck vs Nichols. My poll recently is consensus that it was a legit knockdown
The interest Wilder creates around here is absolutely staggering. Every time he coughs, burps or farts the forum goes into a frenzy.
If Wilder actually were to earn his fights, then we could wish him well, but he will only fight winos from the alley, the WBC has to protect him. Wilder was actually crying when the WBC ordered him to fight Povetkin, then they framed Povetkin, VADA cleared Povetkin, but that did not matter to the WBC..................the best title money can buy?
yep. wilder vs szpilka knockout of the year, a future classic. let's induct him into the hall of fame right now haters gonna hate.
He's two notable wins are against Nichols (controversial) & Charlie Zelanoff (Charlie was substantially lighter). I'm not supporting him in any fight - he's held that title hostage for too long. And the really frustrating thing is - I do think he is very talented.
the only person who doesnt want deontay to succeed is deontay, as is apparent from his abject array of opponents.
I like Wilder. I think he has a compelling backstory and when I listen to him commentate or just speak in general I can't help liking him further. I am sure there are some people that dislike him and want him to fail and that's fine, it's just how it goes sometimes. Personally I can't stand either one of Ward or Kovalev. Both amazing boxers obviously and I'm sure there are a number of reasons why someone wouldn't like them, but for me it's just some instinct; I have never liked either of them and couldn't decide which one I wanted to lose more when they fought. What I think it is with Wilder more than anything though is frustration. This guy is an Olympic medalist, has some of the heaviest hands in the division, has been a WBC champion for years and has fought a who's who list of heavyweight nobodies. It's just annoying to see someone call themselves a world champion and then never test themselves. Similar to Stevenson. Except I guess unlike Deontay, Adonis actually does seem to be a thoroughbred ****
If Wilder beat one top 10 fighter after the other I think most people could also look over the horrendous windmilling technique and the arrogant smack talk. But he doesn't! He cherry picks bums, talks a big game, talks about unifications but then fights #50-#75 Boxreccer's from the bottom of the barrel.
to be fair he picked pedvetkin, so you mean to say pedvetkin is a bum. this is your opinion and you have a right to it.
