sadly the hw division locks guys like Dychko out, while giving bums like Chisora and Charles Martin undeserved unlimited opportunities.

Rubbish. You don't prove things by losing, or knocking down a guy who was knocked down by Steve Cunningham.

I wonder will Usyk go for his mandatory IBF as he is now obliged for early 2024 (assuming he beats Dubois). He is out of excuses for some time.

There's a bit of a difference between Cunninghams flash knockdown and what Wilder did.

But sure, whatever. Wilder is featherfisted.

Let's stop giving Joshua any credit at all for Usyk then, since he lost so comprehensivly. Makes his resume even more trash.

Cunningham had Fury stumbling around for a round and a half, hardly a flash knockdown.

To be fair, Fury's resume is old guys and bums too. the only prime guys who were/are decent on eithers resume are each other. That is why each others fan base now love the other, it is their only mild accomplishment.

Oh boy. We've had a few semi contentious exchanges. But nothing bad so take this as it's intended. Some of the following might apply to you - it certainly applies to many here. Most peeps are followers. They don't think that they are, but a high percentage of people are delusional in many ways. And it's increased over the past generation or two. Just look at how loony many people are compared to ~50 years ago. Decades ago people were more grounded. If you're not old enough, you won't understand or likely agree w/ me.

Fans disappointment w/ Fury-Usyk not happening has caused a flood tide of threads against Fury. As if he's the overwhelming main problem in the HW div. Was I irritated when Fury-Usyk didn't come off? Yes. Do i think Fury s/be fighting Ngannou? No. But that doesn't make Fury mostly what ails the HWs. Many like to tear down the big dog in the division, so we've recently had many anti Fury posts & threads. I'll keep posting that Fury's recent choices have not been for the best of the HW div. But he's just one of many that are a problem in the current HW scene. So why does he get outsized criticism?

Ali's - many peeps HW messiah - resume had many old guys, Cruiser weights (some well below 200#), and bums too.
The "greatest" is 6-0 vs. CWs Quarry, Patterson, & Cooper. Patterson & Cooper blown up Light HWs. D Jones & others were CWs. Ali defeated the ancient Archie Moore & old Sonny Liston to win the title. Many boxing historians estimate Liston was 5-10 years older than his listed age. Did he ever beat Norton even once? Maybe once. Re-watched Ali-Lyle a few days ago. It was worse than I recalled. Ali spent most of the rounds covering up, bouncing around doing nothing, & rope a doping himself. After 9 rounds Lyle was up about 6-3 in any fair minded scoring. One of the refs did have Lyle up big, some blind judge had it even :shakehead: Ali rallied in the 11th and Lyle was in a bit of trouble and the ref waived off Lyle (w/Ali doing the reffing) like he had been decked twice. A gift TKO if I ever saw one. Look at Lyle's immediate reaction toward the ref. It's like WTF! Cosell asked Dundee what he thought the cards were up to the stoppage. He said something like Ali was in control and ahead  Talk about being a company man.

I could go on & on. Some seeing this will think I'm picking on Ali and hate him. No, according to many he's the GOAT. He likely was the best in his era. So I start w/him. Could do the same with Foreman, Frazier, Norton, and others in the "golden era". It's easy and many have done so over the years right here. Most people have recency bias and a strong tendency to romanticize the past.

I think the top current HWs obliterate the top "golden" era HWs. How about a theoretical <Fury, Usyk, Wilder, AJ> vs. <Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Norton>. That's 16 bouts. Fury likely goes 4-0, the other three moderns from 2-2 up to 4-0, say expected 3-1. That's current HWs 13-3 over the half century ago HWs. This is why I've posted that if the internet and sites like this existed ~50 years ago the same trashing of the so called "golden" era HWs would be taking place by your fathers & granddads. Over 1,000s of years, at the core we have not changed much as a species. Appreciate what you have - and yes, they should fight each other more often. Cheers.

The point is that Fury does not have exactly an iron chin.

Fury was know for years as having a very shaky chin. Been rocked by Chisora, McDoughnut, Paycheck or whatever his name is, Nicolai Firtha, and Steven Cunningham. Got rocked by light punching Wallin as well. He's got a trash chin.
