It's obvious that his backers have calculated that developing Joshua as a brand to the general public (and not just a boxer) is the key to generating his billion and their X00 million. Hearn already talks about him as the top British sportsman as opposed to the top boxer. If he protects his 0 and keeps crafting that image, his "brand" is going to spread far and wide. Sort of like Beckham: Joshua could end being everywhere and with his name on just about anything (apparel lines, etc.). Joshua's backers know the potential that they've got in him and they're going to shoot for the moon. ANY decision taken will be done with brand advancement in mind. His branding, packaging and marketing will constantly infuriate some boxing purists, but its not the purists that would generate his billion and the backers' X00 million, it would be the general public and the mainstream media. I like Joshua as a fighter and look forward hopefully to some great fights, but I'll probably never be caught wearing any Joshua apparel or fragrances though. Funny to me is this is exactly what David Haye wanted, but when David shot for the moon, he splashed down somewhere in the Irish sea.
I wasn't a fan of his post fight interview either, he just got carried away. Lennox didn't look impressed lol
couldn't understand the smirk he gave Wlad at the end...If theres respect there I wouldn't expect that ! Weird where he knows the fights over and he fits in that sly smile
Yeah, I think sooner or later his sadistic spiteful side will alienate some of the fans who haven't clocked it yet. Mainstream fans don't mind seeing him punch people's heads in but when they realize how much he enjoys and revels in the hurting and the domination they'll get turned off. I find it a bit of a turn-off and I'm a hardcore boxing fan who's seen it all before, so the housewife who think he's such a lovely lad, or the sports fans who doesn't like the thugs in boxing, will probably be a little surprised. His obvious pleasure in inflicting pain and humiliation goes against his professed image.
No one is perfect, but he seems a real sound fellow with a nasty streak in him. I'm not a fan of too many present day fighters, but I'm liking AJ more and more. I still believe he's the present and future of the division.
lol I don't think you can be a real nice fella with a nasty streak like what we are on about. Competitive yeah, smash them to the ground. Perhaps its me but the smirk was dirty/weird
Find it funny when fighters are chastised for showing some sadistic tendencies. He loves fukin people up no two ways about it. For most fighters it's a legal way of bashing someone up . Satisfying itch of busting some guy up. This isn't cricket As for personality he's just playing the system for the wonga. He's just a normal guy with a mean streak that has managed to channel it into something productive and profitable
