I think most people underestimate Manny's inteligence as a boxer and they grant all of his success to his Speed, Power and physical strenght, never really appriciating his inteligence like they do with other fighters like Floyd or Hopkins. I dont think anybody notices that he is acutally very smart, Freddie Roach usually has a great game plan for him but it takes a really smart fighter to follow a trainers orders in the ring, and Pacquiao usually does very well. What do you guys think ?
he's a born fighter that's been molded properly. Imagine what OTHER fighters are out there who don't have proper training.
Yea i think hes a very clever fighter. the way he changes his angles and moves to the left is very clever. Elements such as timing are accredited to intelligence and the way pac makes ppl run on to shots and moves rhythmically in and out of range throwing punches is a clear sign of it. Lets face it you cant be £4£ number one if you havent got abit between the ears - unless your on the roids.
Yea sorry that was a little joke. couldnt resist. think pac is very clever but all this refusing drug testing **** is well suspect. Havent made my mind up.
Correct me if im wrong, I think I once heard that Pac was going to school to get some type of degree. He has to have some intelligence if he wants to be in office...Scrap that, I forgot Bush was our president.
Honestly I think Pacquiao is an okay fighter without Freddie Roach or an elite trainer, but I doubt he would compete at the level he does without those guys. On the other hand we have seen Mayweather fight essentially without a trainer in the Baldomir fight and win by wide UD.
I think he is totally underrated as a boxer. People say he is not so good because he almost lost to Marquez twice, but one can say precisely because he got the better of Marquez twice at his ideal weights should give people pause to think.
I don't know. I've never really seen him adjust to a certain style which he had trouble with. He goes into the ring and follows Roach's game plan. If that doesn't work, he just tries to win with sheer aggression which got him a TKO win over an overwhelmed Barrera.
His intelligence as a fighter is almost as underrated as his overall ability. It continually shocks me when I see knowledgable, rational posters on here talking about him as if he was still the raw, one-dimensional one-two happy beast of 2003-5 who relied so heavily on his physical gifts. It's as if they have watched his fights over the last 2 years with their eyes closed. The guy's punch variety and accuracy is just phenomenal, he always seems to have an extra gear he can kick into at any time that makes his opponent look slow and vulnerable, and his movement makes him very elusive. In time, once all the petty grudges and hating of this era have died away, history will view his abilities far, far more kindly. He is an elite boxer.
