good post this,I feel the same way and I'll bet most of the boxing fans do,we just wanna see good fights and like you say anyone who puts it on the line against a feared man like GGG is not gonna lose any stock from the public or media. It's those loyal fans of certain fighters that care about em having a zero on their record which is why say fans of Deontay Wilder or Garcia aren't too bothered about watching em fight bums as long as they stay unbeaten. Unfortunately it's one of the downsides of the Mayweather effect, what most don't seem to realise is that Mayweather had a brilliant resume and made the best look poor, problem is guys like Garcia and Wilder want the unbeaten record without facing anyone of note?
I think they matter if you are a boring fighter. I'd rather see Arturo Gatti or Orlando Salido fight than Mayweather anyday. That 0 is all some of these characters have to attract crowds. They don't have interesting fights or interesting opponents, so they use what they have.
no fighters lose fighter take risk you win some you lose some all a part of the game its who keeps winning the big ones that matters:smoke
MMA and UFC are proving to us every year that casuals actually don't give two ****s about whether or not a fighter is undefeated. I don't know why boxing promoters feel it's so important to sell fighters.
Huh??? Floyd fought everyone? Did you just start following boxing? His resume is pathetic and probably the most manipulated of all the so called greats. If he only had 20-25 fights, then ok, but he had 49 fights and only a few of those were vs elite fighters during their actual primes, and that is ridiculous.
If a fighter loses an 0, it not only depends the quality of opposition he lost it against - but also how he lost it. Did he lose it padding his record and getting blown out the moment he faced decent opposition, or did he lose his 0 fighting for a world title in his second professional fight.
