What does Peter have left to offer?

    By Mike Jones

In the last few months three heavyweight contenders have suffered one-sided losses in world heavyweight title fights.
Firstly in September of this year, Samuel Peter suffered a brutal knockout at the hands of Wladimir Klitschko in a bid for the WBO and IBF titles. The following month in Hamburg, veteran American Shannon Briggs lost a landslide decision to WBC ruler Vitali Klitschko, which saw the defeated contender spending time in intensive care after suffering concussion and a torn bicep following a brutal beating. And last weekend we had the hugely disappointing match-up between David Haye and Audley Harrison in Manchester for the WBA title which was ended by the champion in round three after a timid display from Harrison.
The question now is can any of the three men somehow make it back into world title contention?

Peter yes as a gatekeeper fighter - but the batterings by K2 wont have done him many favours. He could still be competative against Haye, Adamek, Arreola, Tua etc so he can still win fights at a decent level and possibly get another world shot if one of the Kilts is stripped of gets beaten

Audley no chance - no one will touch him now - he might get 1 more fight but unless its against someone highly ranked hes never going to get another title shot and hes lost to guys like Rogan who althought tough as nails isnt on the level as K2 Haye or the other top world heavys

Briggs I doubt it he spent a few years koing nobodys and while hes tuff i cant see him getting back in the mix at the top and im not sure why he would hang around KOing lower level fighters again

Sam Peter does have something left to offer clearly, the other two should do everyone a favour and retire for good.

Peter needs to work on his skills, endurance and psychology to become a champion. The fighting heart and power are there, which you either have or you dont, and which most other contenders lack!

Audley vs Price on the domestic scene would be decent.

Sam Peter could still be a threat at gatekeeper....personally I would have liked to have seen Chisora fight him before he got the world title shot.

Briggs...I am not sure at all what he should do. Probably best of calling it a day or doing silly stuff like fighting Holyfield.
