    yes IMO pros punch harder
amatuer boxing is a sprint / it is mostly arm punch`s looking for output over power

also as james5000 said most ams are young

also they have not filled out and in a lot of cases like when they fought the cubans and east europeans a generation ago as a rule they were ams fighting pros .

the only huge puncher i can remember over the yars who fought as a pure puncher in the amatuers as he did in the pros was nigel benn.

In amateur boxing you need to be more accurate and fast. Amateur boxers are just trained to not rely on power.

 Nobody here could imagine a French Pastry Chef, Geriatric Cuban, or Polish soccer thug going more than two rounds with Savon.

A pro hits harder than an amateur, whoever tells you otherwise is lying.

It's not the same a 20 fights amateur guy as a 100 fights amateur plus 10 pros guy. Not at all. Even if it is the same guy. It's not even similar.

You mean Ortiz the guy that Solis owned in the amateurs. If Solis had of stayed away from the buffet line, he would have been a better pro than Ortis. As it is, he still has better pro wins than Ortiz does, and he didn't really beat anyone of note. Savon would have destroyed Ortiz.

Savon is in prison for raping a 12 year old boy.

While I think almost all elite amateurs know how to generate power on some level, they simply don’t train for it because it doesn’t serve much of a purpose in the amateur rule set. All clean contact to the face is generally scored with the same value, so it’s pointless loading up and expending energy on a powerful punch that has no extra benefit. The increased padding on amateur gloves also means it probably won’t do as much damage as you’d like either.

I was previously aware of Savon's issues. Why be a dick in a topic about punching power comparisons? Savon's troubles have nothing to do with this topic. Saying I'm a fan in the manner you state is some real ***** **** on your part, and would get you knocked the **** out if you ever said that **** in person.
