I have seen fights where guys get KOd after 1-3 rounds and the winner would say something like "Sorry the fans probably didn't get their moneys worth" or "I wish it was a bit more competitive for the fans" Do some fighters extend fights into the second half just to appease fans a bit? If I was a boxer and I knew I could get somebody out quickly, I would do it no matter what - whatever stage/level of career. Anyone feel this may be true?
that would be stupid, unless you're dealing with an overmatched tomato can. if its a legit opponent, u better take him out as soon as u can.
Only by the fact of making big names fight each other, steping in the ring and going toe to toe is for me already considered a show... ex Roy Jones Jr ... 1992 till 1998
According to rumor, when Yashmingbigtov or whatever his name was went up against Pac, they told Pac, don't just blast him out, get some rounds for the fans. He got dropped by a jab or some weak punch, got a look on his face, and just kind of finished off Yashmingbigtov in the next round and a half. I think this does happen when someone is overconfident and wants to put on a show - lord knows Erik Morales used to do it against guys without his talent.
mayweather cotto fight was a prime example of a superior boxer putting on a show and creating the illusion of a war in a fight he could have easily won and was in control of. He could have just jabbed and moved like early in the fight but instead he traded making it seem competitive and now he'll probably profit from big money rematch!!
Too many focus on trash talk which should be illegal. It just makes all boxers sound full of ****! Idiots like: James Toney David Haye Amir Khan Paulina Malignaggi Chisora It really depletes the value of the sport and makes all boxers look like idiots. There's got to be a better way to promote a fight outside of the ring! Inside the ring most guys should just worry about handling their business and they could be entertaining enough but ego is always an issue when you're getting your ass kicked.
the *****tardism in this site is reaching a level below moronic. you needed an alt to put above to agree with you? he needed a sucker punch to dispose ortiz while lopez who is a 140 pounder did it with more class.
Interviewer: ¨why did you turn southpaw against Pacquiao? wasn't that an unnecesary risk? ¨ Morales: did you like it? that's why!
