  1. I never thought south paws gave him trouble in the first place the fight with Ortiz proved it i've never seen him use the shoulder roll on a souf paws Before He had it all working besides from what appears "TO ME" a minor decline in Handspeed.

    Floyd still A G. :thumbsup

I think he does have slight trouble against them. Most fighters struggle vs them a heck of a lot more than Floyd though. If you compare Floyd to other fighters, then now he doesn't struggle vs them.
If you compare them to his other opponents, then he struggles just a little

Floyd will have no trouble against any southpaw. He's the 2nd best fighter in his era. The guy ahead of him he ain't fighting. Though I know that same guy won't give him that much of a trouble, for some reason Floyd is avoiding him. :hat

He's more hittable, and he's out of his element a little bit, so in that sense yes he does.

He only had 35% accuracy against Ortiz (zero defensive skills, flat out), which is what, 10 points below his average, but the fight didn't last enough. Who knows what happened should 5-12 took place. He's also getting hit by Ortiz's weak-ass straight lefts (he tagged him with like 4 straight lefts after his first 'signature' right hook)

In related news, May's also more aggressive and opens up a bit more, he was on track for 600 punches vs ortiz should it go the full 12. That's about 100-150 more than he usually throws

It was because he was throwing his jab out as a range finder and wasn't looking to connect with it much kinda like how Mosley uses it. He was landing 49% of his power punches

    Trouble, yes.

That doesn't mean Floyd won't figure them out eventually, and beat them relatively easily.

Ortiz was easy though. I did not see any clean shots to Floyd's face.

No doubt that a large southpaw(Martinez, even Williams) might be difficult for Floyd.

    Probably not Pac though.

  10. When you say he's more hittable do you mean to lefties or because of decline??

35% is 35%, which is lower than his 46% average. If he wasn't looking to connect his jabs then that's one weapon in his arsenal he can't effectively use vs southpaws.

I always suspected that was an oversimplified way to prognosticate. So no, I did not buy that southpaw bit that GBP was trying to sell the public on.

The reason his overall accuracy went lower than usual was because he was more focused on throwing his right hand, the best weapon against a southpaw, than his jab. The lower jab connect % made his overall connect % go down to only 35%. His power punch connect in the Ortiz fight was 49%.

Some power punch %s for his other fights.
    Mosley - 46%
    Marquez - 59%
    Hatton - 39%
    Oscar - 57%
    Judah - 49%

    46 + 59 + 39 + 57 + 49 = 250/5 = average of 50% connect in power shots per a fight
