Pac has a more fan friendly style - and earnt A LOT of fans through taking risks, being the underdog and coming out on top. I dont think Nonito will ever be the underdog - because he wont risk fighting a bloke who is favoured to beat him. Nonito had every chance to keep the momentum rolling after the Darchinyan win, yet he went backwards - he didn't want to take risks back then and still doesn't. The difference with Pac is he didn't take the Phillipinos for a ride - they willingly jumped aboard the Pac express, as its hard not to - he takes risks and excites. Donaire - like Pac - will have to give them a reason to jump aboard and consistantly ducking the best fighters just won't cut it.
a lot of people don't like his cockiness because its frowned upon in the filipino culture. And check out his post interviews...its full of douchewadedness.. "Yeah, we were expecting the KO in 2 or 4 rounds" "rigondeaux...maybe" "I was trying new things..." BUT, I like this guy because he knows how to answer questions with a good response, not a dumb one like Pacquiao.."Oh, I'd like to thank God.." "ohhh, that's up to my promoter" Its not that Pacquiao is really dumb (which he is) but there's a translation misunderstanding that a lot of filipinos go through when English is being spoken to them.. I also like him because...He's f'n AMERICAN. And yes, he's pandering to the filipino fans in the Philippines...but guess what? American Money pays Donaire's bills, not the sh*t advertisements that Pac has to wear for his country men and so he realistically doesn't have an obligation to fight for the Philippines. Its more for himself to quote Ivan Drago. Don't mind the *******s that don't like Donaire..they don't know Shiet about baaaxin.
yeah, because African Americans bring the United States flag to show their patriotism when Floyd fights..atsch
He speaks pretty good Cebuano/Visayan. His fights usually get pretty good coverage and promotion in the Philippines. Most Filipino fight fans support Donaire, but he'll never be esteemed or worshiped the way Pac is. Perfectly understandable as Pac is a once in a life time athletic phenomenon. I suppose growing up in the states has an affect on his appeal to the filipino fan base, something not dissimilar to the support of Mex-american fighters in the Mexican community (i.e Oscar).
Cocky or not, I really don't see a reason for the Philippines NOT to root for Nonito considering there aren't any other world class Filipino athletes out there. And I'm not talking about half Filipinos. So why take Nonito for granted?
wait till he gets to the level of pac/floyd, the signs are already there this early of a stage and with his wife. in fact there are only a few boxers who stay true to being a gentleman in negotiations after rising to the top, klitscho brothers for example.
I remember watching a video of elie with robert garcia with nonito and a bunch of mexicans who were big fans of donaire saying that he's a fellow mexican. Its great to see he pulls in the mexican crowd, lots of real fans.
No because his wife shits on Pac and *******s over on Pacland...and no I'm not kidding, that's a fact. She ****'s on Dodong all the time.
Lol...no seriously, she ****s cats up over there. They hate her but can't really do or say ****, because she's better than them.
