I think Kirkland is done. I liked him fun to watch hit like a mule but he was in the slammer. Doubt he has been doing much to stay ready. I'm sure Mike Vick and Tyson and exiled Ali all kept focused in jail doing the right things to get back in the sport. Him ballooning is expeted in a sport where you cut weight. 6 monthes in the gym and that will disapear. At 154 it is wide open. At 160 I do not give him much chance at the top. Great punch but weak fundementals atleast from what i have seen. And jail will make him rusty and he was no great so the rust will show and heavy. The guy does have great work ethic so he can rebound. But remember Etienne another prison fighter with legal problems. I could see Kirkland getting a piece at 154 and maybe 160 but he cant beat the best at each weight. At 154 Williams Martinez Dzinziruk Spinks and maybe foreman beat him. At 160 I favor Pavlik Sturm Mundine Gevor Asaiken and Sylvester. He is very easy to root for and i wish him well

I agree that he'd have a shot vs these guys but i was looking at it from a career move in terms of the next few years.

Pavlik, Williams, Golovkin, Jacobs, Pirog, Korobov, N'jikam

Lemieux, Gevor, Guerrero, Macklin, Lee plus the above mentioned...........

lol i can't imagine him getting his hands on a belt

I doubt he'd be able to stay at 154 even without going to prison. He's gonna make the move to 160 inevitably, might as well do it sooner than later.

Not to mention, I think the better, more entertaining fights for him would be at 160.

I was thinking in terms of action packed bouts that Kirkland could be in at 160 not in terms of winning a belt. 154 has a lot of boxer type foes for Kirkland like Martinez ,Foreman, Spinks and Dzinziruk good fights for James but the kind wars he would have at 160:bbb

Too bad Anne Wolfe never got that fight with Laila Ali or male fighter she was gonna fight she could have made a bigger name for herself:-(

That was my first reaction. He is too short to fight at middleweight. I'm sure he can if he has to, but 154 would suit him MUCH better.
