You look at some of the young fighters with hype and compare it to some of the top fighters of the past (recent past even) and the resumes are quite different. Compare guys like Thurman to Oscar and Mayweather for example. Thurman is 26... and just take a look at the names on Oscar and Mayweathers resume at age 26. Canelo is an exception as he has a pretty stacked resume for a 24 year old, even if I don't agree with all the scorecards.
In the old days you had plenty of hyped bumbashers too, but nowadays they can keep it up longer because of the sheer number of belts.
Seems to depend where they are from. Can't say the Inoue's, Kosei Tanaka, Lomachenko or Ryo Matsumoto have had it easy
Yes and no. Yes for the reasons you suggest. No because idiots have decided a solitary loss makes you a 'bum'. Idiots have ruined boxing.
:good The 0 has ruined boxing. The 0 is suppose to represent dominance but in today's era it represents being coddled.
compare the comfy situations of alot of US fighters to the harsh realities some of the eastern European guys have come from like Kovalevs background, Ggg and Provodkinov. The first US fighter that came to mind that looks like he comes from a poor background is Crawford, go figure.
I agree the desperation in keeping an 0 has stopped many a good fight and peoples opinion that if u lose a fight your a bum seems more evident than ever
