I tend to do the same thing. I don't know why, but come fight time, if my favorite guys are fighting, I tend to watch with a pessimistic eye. For instance, the recent Calzaghe/B-Hop fight, I was sure that B-Hop had won. Perhaps I was subconsciously preparing myself for the worst. After re-watching it, the fight was much more one-sided in Joe's favor.

On the other hand, if I'm watching 2 fighters for which I have no rooting interest, I can watch objectively and properly analyze the fight as it happens.

Yes, Barrera is my favorite fighter of all time and I gave him a really good chance to beat Pacquiao in the rematch only because I am a big fan... but I knew better.

I havent recently:think .................Oh wait a monute yes i have Enzo Maccaranelli v David haye:nut

Seriously though asa rule i dont, except for Tyson v Lewis. Im a massive Tyson fan and not to fond of Lewis, although i do respect his accomplishments to a certain degree.

I thought Tyson would at least be able to fight like he did in the first round, outjabbing Lewis and moving himback. Landing a punch and the fight being over. But in reality it turned out just like i REALLY knew it would. Tyson was shot and didnt belong in the ring with Lewis that night.:verysad

and yet he's right about calzaghe...

by you labelling him and offering nothing in return says more about you than him. put yourself on the line more

Thats because its fact I don't need to "offer anything in return". Do you not even slightly overestimate your favorite fighter a bit?

:patsch Don't put Gamboa and Calzaghe in the same sentence. Joe has reigned undefeated through his entire career, and is a 2 division world champion. Gamboa is nothing of the sort.

To answer the question, yes. I felt Barrera was going to beat Manny in their second fight, but that didn't turn out to be the case.

nothing is "fact" simply because you post it so.
i'm telling you it doesn't apply to calzaghe and since it's "fact" in your eyes then you should have no problem telling me why...

i'm up for it if you are.

I have no idea what you are talking about with the Calzaghe stuff, care to enlighten me? All im saying is that everyone has their favorite fighters and in a close matchup will always give the nod to their man, regardless of how easily the "right choice" could be staring them in the face. Cmon now everyone does it dude.
