Bear with me here - Beat Peter easier. - Beat Sanders easy, almost as easy as sanders beat wlad - Vitali goes for broke, is more unorthodox, better combos. - Actually Fought Chisora. Before 100 percent of this forum thought that wlad would have beaten Vitalis opponents anyway. Do you still agree? If you ask me, with vitali out of the picture, we have to accept the fact that Wlad may have lost his title a few years earlier.
Now that the dust has settled on Vitali I'm fairly confident in saying he was the best HW in the world from Lewis retiring until his own second retirement. Wlad took the crown against Povetkin but before then I don't see a reason to say he was any better than Vitali.
I agree 100 percent. It was neck and neck maybe but I'd have to say overall Vitali was the better fighter but wlad fought more
Look, Wladimir has had a better reign by the stats, but I've always regarded Vitali as being slightly better and a more natural talent. Both have their arguments and those who prefer Wlad have good reason to. When evaluating their fighting strengths, I lean toward Vitali, and I also think he'd beat his brother - for the record.
Anyone who even has to have this discussion knows sweet FA about boxing. Of course Vitali was better, you morons.
Agreed. For a long time, not even including H2H, I said Vitali's resume was underrated, and that he deserved a higher ATG ranking than his brother. The last couple of years that argument has been harder to maintain, but I think it became credible again last night. Its probably too great a risk to do, but if Vitali were to come back and beat Fury at his age (and I think Vitali could exploit things Wlad couldn't), then Vitali would establish himself as not only the best H2H (not really disputed anymore) but the best resume between the two. As it is, I still think there is some debate. What people forget is losses count against a resume just as wins count for. I think there is legitimate question as to whether Wlads losses count enough against his resume for Vitali to overtake his advantage in wins. And the win advantage is debatable in its scope. You could argue that the Sanders win for VK is better than any single win Wlad has.
I've been saying for the longest time that Vitali's presence as "Co-Heavyweight Champion" during Wlad's streak of wins was GREATLY overlooked (and understated) by the vast majority. Not only was the division weak post-Lewis, but you had two of the best remaining active HWs essentially "tag-teaming" what was left of it. At least Wladimir admits that Vitali was always the better natural fighter. Wlad arguably possessed the better boxing technique, but Vitali had the fighter's will, the activity in the ring, and the Chin to go to war if needed. Ironically, Vitali is exactly the type of HW that Wladimir would have huge problems with.
Let's just say Vitali would have thrown punches He would have went for it He had killer intent, he wanted to hurt you every time. No exceptions. He wanted to take your head off your shoulders
wlad had a lot more natural talent and more power especially with the left hook. vitali had a realy really good chin which meant he was a lot less tentative in his fights but he was a box by numbers straight up fighter whereas wlad had more variety /flexibility .movement. if they fought i think vitali would have won, his toughness winning out.
