What do you mean fighters like Mayweather? Before I can attempt to answer that question this point needs to be ironed out.

Look at it like this, you don't have to like someone as a person even if you're a fan of them. I REALLY don't like Floyd as the person I hear of outside of the ring but I do root for the guy that steps in the ring.

You now what, as soon as I posted this I thought that I may have titled this wrong and your right I did. I would say my question is, do we hold celebrities to a diffenet standard and allow their egos to get too big? "fighters like Mayweather" isnt accurate or really even fair in all honesty.

to each is own, floyd got to where he is because of his hard work and determantion. all he had to do was lose a few of his fights and that would have been then end of it.people hate to see the young man do good i guess.way to many dr phil's in the house if you ask me.

fighters when titles because of what they do in the ring.
fighers put on great fights because of what they do in the ring.
fighters are ranked p4p 1 all the way on down, because of what they do in the ring.
fighers make money because of what they do in the ring.
fighters become atg's because of what they do in ring.
fighters become the best because of what they do in ring.

im a mayweather fan because of what he does in the ring !!!!!!!!!!

i dont care about, who got poked in the face. i dont care about baby mama drama, i dont care about making it rain at strip clubs and all the other bs that dont concern boxing.i became a fan because of what he did in the ring now out.he did not become great outside the ring and became great inside the ring.thats how i judge him and all other fighters.everything else is called ***** talk !!

Yeah, I agree for the most part, though there are exceptions. i liked how Tony Ayala fought, but every time he stepped through the ropes i wanted him to take a viscious beating. But, as fans we do tend to make excuses for fighters we like, which i guess is part of the point of this post. I would say that the majority of Floyd fans, defend his actions outside of the ring.

i dont disagee with you Platnum, you should be a fan of his for what he was he has done in the ring. But, you cant ignore that a lot of the headlines with his name in it have nothing to do with boxing. I agree that he shouldnt even get any attention for his actions outside the ring. But, that is part of why he is as big as he is. Hes held to a different standard.

You can't ignore what guys like Robinson, Monzon, & Ali did in the ring. As people I don't like them but they won me over as fans because of what they did inside the ring. I try not to look on personal life because that's their buisness but I agree, there are exceptions like ****(you brought up Ayala). I just can't support a known ******. I say known because yes I like Tyson but he didn't **** her. Why the hell would she leave a hotel with a grown ass man at midnight and not think about sex? I'm pretty sure she wanted it. It's unsure what went on that night and only Tyson & Desiree know.

:-( wrong the majority of floyd fans dont give a **** about that type of **** and people like you obvious do.thats the only difference, some people judge fighters on what they do in the ring others judge fighters on what cars they drive, or what clothes the wear or how they talk etc. etc.

again i dont care about his baby mama drama.
again i dont care about the security man getting poked in the face.
again i dont care about none of that ****, im only interested in his next fight !!

Ok. Then why does 24/7 do so well. How about fightcamp 360? Of couse what fighters do in the ring is the most important thing. thats why we watch them, but to say fans dont care about how a fighter carries himself is naive. You dont listen to post fight interviews, watch documentaries? Do yourself a favor too and dont see any more boxing movies.

I would like to think that I can filter out everything else and just judge boxers on their ring performance, but i am human and really don't have control over making judgments on things that i read about people. For example, i have always thought joe calzage was an entertaining fighter but thought his dad was a punk. Because of this i always watched joe fight but kinda was hoping he would lose. Boxing is differant than a sport like baseball or football because it is supporting just one guy against another. I come on this site too much to be insulated from some facts about the personal lives of boxers and it affects my view of them.

ps: floyd is a punk but this recent video is a joke, the guard was being a jag on purpose.
