no need ofr that ****. a great fighter would knock these fools out. Tyson and Holyfield would slaughter both klitschkos
No too mant divisions as it is, if Chambers doesnt think he can handle the heavys of today he should try for the 200lb limit which he could make!
I couldn't agree more! Rant on; Who's ****ing idea was it to make 12 round fights? The promoters me thinks in an effort to comply to network television demands. That's how you get so many draws. It should be an uneven number. Oh yeah, and how about enforcing the rules. I am sure I am in the minority here, but take a look at the actual queensbury rules and you tell me if Lennox the Klits or almost any other fighters follow them. The Queensbury Rules 1. To be a fair stand-up boxing match in a twenty-four foot ring or as near that size as practicable. 2. No wrestling or hugging allowed. Is this not the same as clinching? 3. The rounds to be of three minutes duration and one minute time between rounds. 4. If either man fall through weakness or otherwise, he must get up unassisted, ten seconds be allowed to do so, the other man meanwhile to return to his corner; and when the fallen man is on his legs the round is to be resumed and continued until the three minutes have expired. If one man fails to come to the scratch in the ten seconds allowed, it shall be in the power of the referee to give his awart in favour of the other man. 5. A man hanging on the ropes in a helpless state, with his toes off the ground, shall be considered down. 6. No seconds or any other person to be allowed in the ring during the rounds. 7. Should the contest be stopped by any unavoidable interference, the referee (is) to name the time and place as soon as possible for finishing the contest, to that the match can be won and lost, unless the backers of the men agree to draw the stakes. 8. The gloves to be fair-sized boxing gloves of the best quality and new. 9. Should a glove burst, or come off, it must be replaced to the referee's satisfaction. 10. A man on one knee is considered down, and if struck is entitled to the stakes. 11. No shoes or boots with springs allowed. 12. The contest in all other respects to be governed by the revised rules of the London Prize Ring. I think Wlads fight against sanders was in a 15 foot ring! **** around that's almost half of what the rules deem to be reasonable. You don't see many 7 foot tall marathon runners for a reason...they tire quicker than a smaller man. It seems to me that the first 2 rules are broken often. How is clinching any different from hugging. Throw a jab and if you miss, hug. ****ing joke. Manny Steward is ****ing up the heavyweight division with his tactics. Maybe a reshuffling of the weight classes is in order. Eliminate 4 or 5 and bump the heavies to 210 or 215 maybe. But I strongly favor the return to 15 round bouts. Boxing is not on network television anymore so shitcan this 12 round crap! Rant off.
Jack Dempsey was around 190 lbs., if that, but he hit hard enough to kill anyone. The same thing for Rocky Marciano, Joe Louis. What I don't understand is this notion that there are so many talented big men currently fighting ? I see the Klitschkos and a handful of guys who haven't fought anyone of note. Are these guys such a cut above guys like Boystov, Brewster, Rahman, Povetkin, even Ruiz, that we need a new division. How many fights could actually be made in this division ?
Big guys are dominating the division because there's a distinct lack of talent in HW boxing, particularly from Western countries, as the lack of a weight limit allows fighters to plod along unathletically and without discipline. It's more of a sociological problem - with the unhealthy lifestyle in Western Europe and the US - than anything weight-based. All these big guys are very beatable by talented smaller guys.
No I don't think so, although they can set the LHW limit to 178lbs and set the cruiserweight limit to 205lbs, that might help.
But, I basically just see the Klitschkos and an extremely vulnerable giant who's being handled very carefully.
Besides, so many of these guys are just fat. http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=9383&cat=boxer
