he had the skills to nullify the long standing heavy weight champ you can't take that away from him I was rooting for wlad but he got beat by a good game plan

It was incredible and id never say otherwise but ive seen nearly all his fights and he made that look like his easiest one. But hes never been so good against people nowhere near as good as Wlad. I know hes never been a dazzling kind of fighter but ive never seen a plan be so effective as it was against Wlad.

And dont get me wrong im not going to say he he no chance against Wilder, this isnt the aim of the thread. Its just we seem to talk about Fury like he is the 2nd coming of Ali but all the fuss is being made based on that Wlad performance but nothing was ever said about him before and hes certainly done nothing since. Personally i think hed beaten Wlad before they even got in the ring, Fury mentally crushed Wlad. There are plenty of less skilled Boxers out there than Wlad but not many are as mentally weak.

I've never thought fury was the second coming lol when I hear fury I think of someone punching them self in the face but on that night he did what he said he could and would do to the champ

I think so, but I will say this: in the run up to Wlad-Fury a lot of people were saying the same stuff they're saying now. Exactly the same stuff.

Good assessment mate, that’s all Fury did - kept throwing Wlad off, which doesn’t take much to do, we’ve seen it time and time again, whenever Wlads feels danger he’d throw his hands up and jump back or, at best, just stop whatever he was up to.
For a wrecking machine he was, he did nt have that “i’ll get you whatever it takes” in him, pure calculation and risk assessments all night long.

As an awkward and fast, big HW, Fury is horrible guy to get in a fight with but someone who has destruction in mind could handle him. Is that Wilder? Well. Perhaps.

Was it the fifth or sixth round where he used lateral head movement to solve poverty in the developing world? The other high point that sticks in my memory was in the championship rounds when his superior footwork stopped global warming.

    Yes, we do.

It was an awful fight. One of the worst I have ever watched. Fury looked awful but Wlad looked as bad. Could have gone either way. But the work output was non-existent.

There should have been no declared winner. They both should have been DQ'd.

the problem is that too many people rely solely on what the resumes suggest, rather than what they see in the ring. if fury edged a guy who has dominated the division for a decade, then he must be a monster, regardless of what actually happened in the ring. you should be able to judge speed, intensity, timing, etc.. and determine how it compares to the highest levels, not how it compares to each other in this particular situation. fighters do not perform exactly the same in every similar situation or fight, so you need to be knowledgeable enough to recognize where a performance is outside world class and what it means as a measuring stick.

Had nothing to do with Fury controlling Wlad with feints?
Wlad had no idea what to do because Fury was always up to something and Wlad had to react.
You are acting as if Wlad had a stationary opponent in front of him and was reluctant to let his hands go.

 How did Fury look awful? He was in complete control for the majority of the fight. He dictated the pace.
And DQ'd for being outboxed? Gtfo

    How does that matter?
Fury looked brilliant that night, that was the point.

But watching it live, no i did not, because i was rooting for Wlad. And after the 4th i knew he would loose.
I recently watched it again. It's not a good fight as it barely has any action, but i enjoyed watching Fury outclass Wlad. He was near perfect that night.
If you ever box, you should try some of his moves.

Excellent post by the way. I think now he is back and lost the excess weight he put on post the Klitschko fight we shall find out just how good he really is.
