Personally, im ill-equipped to make such an analysis. I don't understand the standards all too well.

Here are some of his career stats/attributes so far:

    *52-3 with 46kos
*13-2, 11kos in world title fights
    *Unified champion
*Undefeated against Ring ranked top 10hws in his career
*6 of his last 8 fights have been against Ring ranked top 10 hws 6-0, 4kos
*10 fight winning streak including 7kos
    *Defeated 8 world champions
*Universally regarded to have one of the best jabs and right hands in boxing
*Dominates his opponents rarely losing a round and avoids big punches about as well as anyone around today

What do the classic experts say?

When we consider how many fighters have made the hall of fame for doing far less, I think his credentials are ample and wins over Haye and Povetkin will only ad to it.

sure seems the standards are lower than, for example, baseball and football (American):yep

seems on par with pro basketball...just being good for a long time or very good for a short time seems like it's enough

That's a terrible post, there probably isn't a single string of 5 words that I could agree with.

The #1 heavyweight in the world for a period is a near slam-dunk to make the hall of fame, but Wlad is not. Why? I don’t think Wlad’s problem is ability or ring record, moreover it’s the geographic make up of the panel of voters, some of which grew up in the cold war and flat out do not like boxers from Eastern Europe. I suppose Wlad will eventually get in.

Who has Povetkin beat? A washed up Byrd.beating him proves nothing.Haye may be a fine Heavy but we don't know yet.Wlad's problem is not ability or ring record, its the fact that he shits himself whenever his opponent gets aggressive, talent is great, but you need heart too.Wlad is gunshy, and the heavy division stinks.

Povetkin has beaten Chambers, Byrd, Donald, and Ahyuana. I do think Povetkin is a legit top 5 heavyweight today. Povetkin has more skills than either Chagaev or Ibragimov, and both of those two were alphabet champions.

If Wlad beats the 2004 Olympic golden boy in his un-defeated prime, it should be viewed as a quality win.
