Do Witter and Diaconu need KOs against the Branco bros to win?

If you gave every close round to Branco you could have him losing 114-113.... but that was it.

I had it 8-4 to Lynes with the KD, so 116-111. Wouldn't argue with 115-112 though.

Branco did rally a little at the end as Lynes looked to simply stay out of trouble - though not by running.....

The EBU should have ordered a rematch, but didn't.

Damn....just checked....Witter is fighting in Branco's native city of Civitavecchia.
Diaconu's location ain't sure, but it will most likely be Rome.

Diaconu may very well lose a clean fight but that wouldnt stop you from claiming that he was robbed...Working that Farmboxer fomula I see:yep

Witter shouldnt have much trouble with the younger brother

Diaconu should be motivated to dominate impressively not so much by the prospect of getting robbed as by that of rehabilitating himself as a serious contender at 175 lbs.

Lynes won the first half of the fight easy and at a canter, but then decided to mix it in the 2nd half making rounds closer than they should have been. He was certainly robbed, no question.

    Gianluca will get stopped....

Silvio/Diaconu..... Adrian got an older guy in front of him... He could probably get away with a decision....

I think Witter will be fine. Witter fought a journeyman last time, but I saw some big changes from him. He didn't pose, or switch stance, or counter. He was very aggressive. Even in the past he has carried lesser opponents, so to me this seemed like a change he has conciously made. I think that is good for him, he hasn't got the same reflexes and speed he once did. A more basic style using his power and punching variety is welcomed. Judging by the Italian's recent showings he would be right to feel confident about getting a stoppage.

Diaconu SHOULD come through. Branco has been very inactive and he's old, he's had a long career. That is not a good combination in itself. On the other hand Branco is tough and strong, Diaconu is going to have to impose himself and not make it look like Branco is busy. He NEEDS to show better stamina than last time, or else he could be in a nasty situation where Branco sweeps rounds because Diaconu is spluttering everywhere. Lynes' mistake was sailing through rounds 6-12. We need to see a better performance from Diaconu than against Henry; that was awful - he needs to restore faith that he is a part of this light heavyweight landscape. That being the case he should get a late stoppage.

I don't think either fight will go to the cards, hopefully not.

Outboxing in a very loose sense. They were both extremely poor that night, especially Diaconu, we expected more from him than unknown Henry. Henry struggling with Yusef Mack is an eye opener as to how bad that performance was for Diaconu. Now...with no excuses of illness or anything else we need a convincing display.

I have not seen the fight. 140lb Branco looks like someone who would be in a lot of wars. Definitely not skilled...just a come forward strong guy.

True, but still he got the job done going in there with plenty of problems.
Not to make excuses but he did have plenty at the time.
Ahh what?Silvio is the LHW,Gianluca is the JWW.Branco vs Tiozzo was for the WBA LHW title after Branco upset Sahnoune.
There is a highlight video on youtube and it seems a good fight.Branco had him all but out and couldn't finish him in the 7th.Had him hurt and down.Branco was down himself in the 11th but it as a slip ruled a KD.

Not to mention that he seems so caught up in trying to pretend like he's even close to being in Ricky Hatton's shadow that he realizes that the whole JWW division has passed him by.

Witter can still be a player in the division but if I had to pick in one of his "big" fights, I'd bet against him every time.

I know! I'm just saying what I've seen of smaller Branco recently. Can you remember the last skilled Italian fighter? I don't think they had one since Dulio Loi. They all go to war!

and WTF is with Shark Diaconu inactivity? Since Septemer 2006 he has had...wait for it... TWO fights. Pathetic!

Chad Dawson went and paid off all of his future opponents in an effort to make Diaconu the most ducked man in the history of the universe.

Or he could just be injury prone.
