It's growing big time. I think its a bit misogynistic to think that women can't participate in all sports at all levels. I've watched some women's football matches that have produced a much better level than some men's games. Of course the likes of Sky will start to latch onto it, but they certainly won't if its not being watched.

Exactly, I saw some statistics once on the female viewership of mens boxing and its less than 1% of the audience. Less than 0.5% of the people on forums like this are women too.

But in one of the most masculine sports on earth, with the smallest numbers of women showing any interest at all. The feminist lobby still finds a way to shoehorn in a female version, and parachute in rubbish womens fights high up on mens cards.

The promoters should tell the feminists to do one, they tell the male fans who pay money to watch the sport to do one all the time.

To do those say it just needs more investment etc...Its really not going to make any difference as no one wants to watch it.

Anyway I’m not being misogynistic it’s just woman’s sport is really boring and for the most part sucks. However I’m fine with it if the women want to see it but from the responses I’ve gathered on this thread it seems for the most part they don’t.

Didn't mean to offend mate. I guess what I'm really trying to say is its just more common place now in all sports. In the future it will be the norm, big names (women's) big bucks etc, etc. Its started, it won't stop. Even this sport and this forum will eventually catch up.

Lol dw you didn’t offend me. I get what your saying but I guess I’m just getting kinda annoyed about how the media are making a big deal out of something very few people care about.

Sadly, I don't see this forum catching up. The movement here against it seems pretty strong. I do agree with you that women's boxing will be getting bigger as time goes on. Taylor/Serrano and Shields/Marshall both were financially successful, and I don't think that's gonna be a trend that will stop anytime soon for big time women's fights.

The media do influence all sports massively though, can't change that. There are, as I'm sure I don't have to tell you, a lot of casual fans out there that only think a fighter is special because of the way they've been promoted and portrayed in the media. Bet on the skilled boxer not the celebrity because the celebrity falls hard when they meet a true natural boxer. AJ springs to mind.
The media have a lot to answer for in all sports, male or female.

This makes me wonder do women actually buy tickets to boxing events? Outside of someone like De La Hoya Canelo or an ethnic group backing their own ethnic fighter I can't see women ever buying tickets to a boxing match

Really? That's gross! But not surprising for the WBC.

I don't know any women who watch women's boxing (even a friend who is a former amateur boxer herself). It's one of those things that sounds great on paper or as an idea but in practice...it sucks. But it's great for the women that want to fight. I just don't want to have to watch it on big cards.
