If I had it my way, World Title fights would be 15 rounds. Problem is, that won't happen, so would a proposed 13th round be better. I'm talking exclusive World title's not, USBA, NABF, WBC CA, etc. Those can still be 12 rounds. The extra 3 minutes would settle a lot of bull**** in my eyes. It would do well to eliminate draws, because the even round is seemingly a lost art in scoring now a days, settle fights that are close after 12, and add to the already great atmosphere of a World Championship contest. I honestly feel that an extra 3 minutes would make a world of difference.

    Agreements, Disagreements, Discuss.

The USBA used to have a "sudden death" after 12 rounds if it was even.

I say just leave it and let it be a draw.

I would prefer it, as a draw can still happen but less likely.

well in the sport of boxing...draws = rematch
and thus...MORE MONEY! :( :bart (i hate it)

and although settled accounts would eliminate this problem

the reason it only goes 12 is because back in the old days of 15 rds...people used to die from exhaustion and brain trauma because of those extra 3 minutes...most of these occurred in the 13th, 14th and 15th round...

so they eliminated these rounds and just settled for 12...because 11 wasnt enough...

Some orgs have been trialing 11 round fights for their regional titles.

I think you will see that before 13 rounds ever comes in.

They weren't really. Some deaths were fights that went past 12, but not an extremely high percentage of them in the Queensbury era. The Mancini-Kim death resulted in a lot of bad publicity with it being on national TV, and the WBC made their title fights 12 rounds. The other organizations eventually followed suit. That was also sort of the beginning of the end for day-of-the-fight weigh-ins.

i want 15 back. 15 you get decisive winners. Hell if it was 12 rounds, Marciano and Louis have losses to Walcott and Conn. Hearns is considered a top 10 P4P great.

If they were 12 rounds, then Marciano and Louis likely would've turned up the pace and fought differently knowing there were only 12 rounds.

I don't know too many people that rank Hearns among the 10 greatest ever.

I don't really care too much if it's 12 or 15 rounds. The weigh-in rules I have more of a problem with.

I agree 15, but I just don't think it will happen. Seems like 13 is more reasonable, but we won't get 13 either.

thats why they eliminated it...SOME deaths...is too many deaths...so if they can minimize the death rate the better...

I would prefer 15 rounds again but since that is not practical because of boxing politics then 13 rounds sounds reasonable. The probability of a draw decreases and the champions/title contenders are tested more.

No, I just think Marciano wore Walcott down. Walcott took some vicious shots throughout the fight. His brain finally just said **** it and went to sleep. If it were twelve Im sure Walcott would have won. Maybe Conn would have went for the knockout in round 12 instead of 13. But he would have had a much better chance of beating Louis.

I think Hearns is penalized for his loss to Leonard, even though he was on his way to winning the fight until Leonard started attacking his chin. If Hearns beats Leonard in that fight, I think he is ranked in Leonards place instead of Leonard being ranked in the top 10.

I think alot of boring fights, like Hopkins V Calzaghe and Mayweather V Hoya would have been alot more exciting if you taked on 3 extra rounds. Fighters coast to much these days. If they had to go 15, you'd see alot of seperation in the true elites and the pretenders. Also I dont think you'd have so many questionable decisions.
