The "official" reason was for the safety of the fighters.

It might've just been for monetary reasons, to fit a fight in an hour on network TV with the commercials.

Despite Marciano being losing on the cards officially, I thought he did much better than the judges said. I remember reading a Ring flashback article after the fight and they were saying a lot of writers had Marciano winning. I also didn't think Walcott was ahead after 12. Whether or not he lands that shot if it was scheduled for 12, or if Louis is able to step it up and stop Conn (or if Conn would get overconfident) is it was scheduled for 12 is anyone's guess, really.

    I would prefer 15 rounders.

As a purist I will not comprimise.

Someone at the top just needs to tell the health and safety mob to go **** themselves.

A 13 round for world title fights would resolve much of the judgement discrepencies that the sport has been subject to, thus I would support the idea at least for title fights.

Definitely, the way people tell it today Walcott was kicking Marcianos ass and he landed a perfect punch. In reality it was much like the Margarito Cotto fight, Marciano was landing some vicious shots that wore on Walcott as the fight went on.

if both fighters are over rated, maybe 13 is enough

nice lucky number...but no why should there be.you fight all your fights getting to the top 12 rounds so why have a 13th,everyone is used to fighting 12,know what they need to do in 12 and there is no excuses.
