15 rounds would improve boxing, for sure, at all weights.

The wiegh in thing, I don't think it's so important that it changes back, although it would prevent this ludicrous weight making that some of these guys attempt...basically though, there will be a couple of idiots who would try it anyway and they'd end up getting badly hurt.

SO leave the weigh in as it is (though in an ideal world it would be same day) and bring back 15 rounds!

The fact is somewhere near 98% of all recent fights put people to sleep before the seventh round. In my oppinion, extending these fights would make most unbearable to watch. Boxing should work on generating more exciting fights on a consistant basis before tackling things like adding more rounds for championship fights.

althought what im going to say has already been said i'll just say it to express what i feel should be best, and fair. 13 rounds of boxing for championship fights, i think it is the right balance between the reasons some say 15 rounds and other say 12. Reduces the chances of controversy, and it doesnt make too much of a difference between the rounds the train and fight for. And the weigh in should stay the day before, but with a weight limit come fight night, of maybe no more than 10lbs.

Actually, I don't. I think it's an even better plan than the one I suggested. However, it could be improved if one hour before the fight they weren't allowed to be over the next division's up weighlimit.

So..one week before the fight, they have to make weight. One hour before the fight, if they fight at 168, they are not allowed to come in higher than 175.

I think the weight classes need to be recalculated.

Some have a limit of 4 pounds and some 3 pounds, thats just daft and too low and doesn't help when there struggling to make It.

Yet Cruiser has 25 pounds limit which Is strange.

The weight classes are fine, the weigh ins are fine. I don't want to be getting into situations where the little guys can't fight to their full potential because of the struggle to make weight and lack of time to rehydrate. Especially considering they are some of the best divisions at the moment

    Wouldn't mind 15 rounders

I am ok with the weigh in the day before, it gives fighters a chance to rehydrate thus they are less prone to permanent injury.

As far as the fight length, 15 rounds for sure. A fighters heart and stamina are tested more on a championship level.

Theres 17 weight classes because of greed and money making opportunities.

actually, i think u make a very good point, and i also think the safety of our fighters should be priority, but we cant expect for the boxing's comission to take full care of a fighters safety when it is really their responsability to watch for their health and decide when they should move up in weight because of weight issues. I think that a good alternative should be to make sure that every fighter is well aware, and educated of the risks they take by draining their bodies the way they do, fighter who keep gaining 12-17 pounds between the weigh in and fight night should just move to the next division, and i think that includes pacquiao, so if there were a rematch between pac and marquez i think it should be at 135lbs, this is why i also think that having a weight limit the day of the fight would help clear things a bit, making fighters move to the next weight class if they cant stay there and perform at their very best., but if they weigh in more, they should be penalized.

Unfortunatley, the reason fights were reduced to 12 rounds from 15, was to eliminate the risk of ring deaths or permanant damage. The Mancini-Kim tradgedy was a fight that inspired the reduction in rounds, at least by the WBC. The WBA and IBF soon followed.

Rehydration is improtant, and it's a difficult nut to crack. I like the idea brought up of being weighed a day or two before the bout and then reweigh the day of the bout with a max of the next weight class. I still fear that fighters would find ways to screw up hydration with this system too though.

I also favor 15 rounders, but it would be interesting to get Ray Mancini's take on this
