Duh? what are you 11? His eye was severly damaged against Danny, did you see him fold up? The answer would be no and he knew he wasn't ahead in that fight either. Lucas clearly felt there was something serious here. He pulled the plug. Period.
Lucas threw ~8 punches in round 8, ~8 punches in round 9 and ~8 punches in round 10. 99% of them to the body. Lucas was connecting 34% of his hits. Lucas made wobble postol 2 times in round 7. One of them after the headbutt. Lucas threw 280 punches, he was not tired. Lucas didnt know what to do at this point to go down in a credible way. He tried everything and this 1d10nt continued potshotting. This fight was a shame for boxing.
I don't think guys that never were in a ring with someone that legitimately tries to hurt them should even comment about this. Watching a sport does not make you a boxer, nor does it make you understand what goes on in that ring. Terms like kneeguel, quitchko and the rest just tell me the poster using them is an utter ****e.
One day they will realize that power does not equal greatness. Just to be clear... from now on is ok to quit if you feel your health might be affected? Just so we all on the same page, health comes first right? Not saying that Lucas did the right or wrong thing. No one but himself knows what he was through. And I would have done the same thing if I thought I was going blind. Just making sure whats acceptable for one boxer is acceptable for another. That seems to be the new sentiment in the forums now since Lucas. We should also pardon Ortiz, De la Hoya and some of the others that quit.
These guys are professional boxers not coliseum gladiators. Sometimes you gotta know when to quit in order to fight another day and live life at 100% health.
