Maybe we should wait until they retire before we start talking about this?

Right now, if they were to retire tomorrow:

Wladimir would be around top 10-15

Vitali would be around top 15-20

    Yes, definitely.

And when I say Top 10 I am talking head to head match ups.

is so tough to classify "atg" heavyweights b/c how the division has evolved. what once was a hw is now a cw, etc. its the only division where there isnt a ceiling at the weigh in so it would be very difficult for the rock, who weighed in at 200lbs and below, to hang w/ a skilled and strong dude who goes 6'6" and a deuce and a half.

w/ the hw division moreso than any other division, its easier to judge them based on the generation they fought in. in that regard, of course they are right up there.

    Muhammad Ali
    Rocky Marciano
    Joe Louis
    Jack Johnson
    Jack Dempsey
    Gene Tunney
    Larry Holmes
    Joe Frazier
    Lennox Lewis
    Evander Holyfield
    George Foreman
    Sonny Liston
    Mike Tyson
    Ezzard Charles
    Riddick Bowe

Hmm I'd put the Klit brothers right outside the top 10.

Vitali deserves to be higher in my opinion. He is somewhere between 15 and 20.

It's not their fault that their era is so poor.

Too hard to tell with the level of opposition these guys have dealt with. You can count the legit contender/champs (guys who would be near the top in any eras) they have fought combined on one hand: Lewis (atg), Corrie Sanders (marginal legit contender), Byrd (marginal legit contender), Hide (very marginal legit contender)...then they have some dominating wins over journeyman/low contender types

have to rank them fairly high b/c especially Vitaly would be a total handful for any HW because of his size especially plus his chin and ring smarts

Guys like Liston, Marciano, Johnson, Dempsey ect were just as dominant in their era as the Klitsckos are now. But unlike the Klitsckos have a couple big name opponents in their win columns. Liston has Patterson, Marciano has Walcott, Moore and Louis, Johnson has Langford, Jeffries, Dempsey ect.

Klitscko doesnt have that big name. Just a bunch of guys like Shannon Briggs whow as nothing more then a small time contender even in his prime.
