Do you agree with Bert Sugar saying Mike Tyson career wasnt good enough to make the top 100 p4p ATG?

Tyson being a Heavyweight doesn't need to worry about or bother with p4p. That's a mythical list. What I do know is that in the late 80s Tysons kicks any man's ass who was walking the planet. No p4p list can top that.

The idea of a heavyweight giving a **** about p4p is silly it's an idea designed to level the playing field for smaller fighters so they can be compared against heavy weights. With that being said Bert sugar had dudes who boxed in diapers filling up his p4p list making it even less relevant

 

The memory I have of that list when he released it, was that Jeff Fenech didn't make it, I was a young aussie kid at the time, so thats why I remember that. Pretty sure it was around the time Fenech got robbed against Nelson which if not robbed would have made Fenech, the youn gest and quickest to 4 titles in 4 weight classes and the only fighter to have done it undefeated, so it was a hard list to get on to!
Fenech interviewed Sugar about that list and you could tell Fenech was impressed...haha. Nowadays I couldn't care less if he was on the list or not.

 

I thought he said 100 in just heavyweights.

 

Definitely in the Top 100 Bottom half of the Top 100 though.!!!

 

Of course hes top 100 P4P he dominated the 80s beating every worthwhile Heavyweight there was. Including being the only man to stop Holmes, Spinks, who were ATGs. Unified the division in only a few years, the youngest Heavyweight champion in history. And finally H2H in his prime is one of the best Heavyweights of all time, so based on all that its a no brainer.

 

Marciano stopped Louis, Charles, Moore and Walcott. At least two of those guys (Louis and Charles) are ATG. Charles had a better HW career than Spinks overall.

 

What has Marciano got to do with what i'm discussing though ? No offence to you but i don't see the relevance. No one is comparing Tyson or Marciano, nor am i arguing about Marciano's place in top 100 P4P. My reply was strictly to argue the point, that Tyson is very much deserving of top 100 P4P. Based on his achievements and being rated high regarding H2H.

Ohhhh yes your right i just checked my reply again and the way i worded it. It did seem like thats what i was saying, what i meant to say was "Tyson was the only man to stop Holmes, Spinks, who were ATGs" let me edit my post.
