Do you agree with MANNY or with ARIZA about Pac's fighting weight?

On episode 3 of Pac-Marg 24/7, Alex Ariza made clear that he would like Manny's weight to be nearer 153 like it was vs Clottey.

Pac said he felt that sacrificed his speed, and that he wanted to be lighter, around 147 or 148.

Ariza seems to think Pac can only be 70-80% of what he can be by going against him and his strength & conditioning program, while Roach thinks the best thing to do is to let Manny be the weight and the state that he wants to.

Personally, I believe Manny is right here. I'd expect Margo to be 165-170 in the ring, or at least something close to that, so weighing 153 is not going to come anywhere close to bridging that size/strength gap. I think Manny is better off being lighter and focusing on being as fast and fit as he can.

Who is right in your eyes - Manny or Alex Ariza?

PS: Did anyone else ****ing love it when Freddie said: "He calls himself the Tornado... the ****in' real tornado's comin'!!!" :bbb

I'm with Ariza. Pac will need to keep Margo a little bit honest and every pound will help. I thought he was fast enough against Clottey and especially against Cotto. As some point it's ok to sacrifice speed for power. Being smaller will also make him waste more energy on the inside or when in a clinch (which will maybe happen 1-2 times per round.)

I think he should listen to his conditioning coach.

Pac being 147. He should come in as light as possible because even if he comes in heavier he won't be stronger than Margo so it won't make a difference. Come in light and be faster his whole plan revolves around speed anyways.

I don't think extra weight would help manny in this fight, not much clinching going on here imo. Whatever manny feels comfortable at well help him feel psychologically right

I hear what you're saying man, and it's a valid point, but I have to disagree. A conditioning coach is not a boxer. Roach knows. Being 90% speed vs Clottey was OK because Clottey was not pressing him, but Manny will need to be 100% lightning fast to get in-and-out vs Margo and not let himself get trapped on the ropes.

Pac is gonna be lighter than Margarito regardless, so he might as well be at his fastest. I agree with Pac.

Like Roach said, do whatever but don't hurt his speed, ever.

It's easy to look rapid next to a heavybag with a pair of trunks wrapped round it though, no?

Fair enough man, there's no real right answer here, just our opinions. Manny was fast v Clottey, there's no denying that.

I agree with Ariza. Manny still has WAAAAY too much speed for Margarito. Now if it affects his stamina, thats another story.
