- Career up until 2009... Sonnen had yet to discover how to juice safely. Went 2-2 in 4 fights between 07 and 09, losing to Paulo Filho and Demian Maia. - 2009 to 2010... Sonnen has learned how to juice safely. Goes 3-0 in dominant fashion vs Marquardt, Okami, Miller. Is 2 minutes away from a stunning unanimous decision win vs Anderson Silva before getting submitted. - 2010 & 2011... Caught juicing. But, comeback fight in Texas allows him to juice again, back to winning in dominant fashion, submitting Brian Stann. - 2012 More stringent drugs policy in Chicago means he cannot juice to the same extent. Labours to close, disputed win over Michael Bisping, nowhere near as impressive as he was vs Marquardt, Okami, Stann, etc. - summer 2012 Is a key factor in the Silva-Sonnen rematch whether Sonnen can juice or whether he is rigorously tested in the build-up? What do you think? :bbb
Yes. Sonnen, and other dirty fighters need to be tested more often if they want to compete again. They have a million excuses, so put them on probation. I don't know about Texas MMA, but The UFC tested their own fighters for a card in Europe last year. This is a huge factor because athletes got away with cheating for years, and Sonnen could be juicing again.. Only this time we may never know about it.
Paulo and Damien were far better equipped to beat Chael than the latter 3. As well as them, Stann just isn't all that competent a fighter at the top level and was given no chance to land his dulling blows. Bisping was a close fight between two top contenders. Chael isn't a great fighter, and he may well have pissed about in more fights than the Silva fight. Loads of fighters are and it sucks. I think he's a good contender who had a great night against a less than fit champion as well as him being super fit and juicing. I think Silva will blast Chael this time and we'll see, just a contender. His run wasn't amazing enough for my to think 'he's juicing all the time' other beatable contenders and Marquadt? Why do we care if Sonnen's juicing there, that fight has 'level playing field' written all over it. Okami even recognised it was Sonnen's skillset that troubled him, as he trained with him afterwards. Miller is a journeyman.
Well if its juice that causes him to be so good all i can hope is he juices like a madman and gets away with it for his next fight, else he's getting decapitated
Sonnen has probably been juicing most of his career, I doubt his methods have changed too much over the past 15 years.
Yawn. Another brainless slut who thinks that every thread is the gospel truth according to the thread-starter. :dead
yes, but also style makes fights too. many of losses were to submission specialists right (even his good juiced up performance vs spider) whereas many of better wins against guys maybe not soo skilled on ground
