Just finished watch replay the Pac/Marquez 1,2,3 & 4 fights. On the 4th fight, rd 6, w/in 3 secs left to end the rd, on my observation, marquez stumped PAC foot then full force cross right punch w/o blinking, as his claimed that was not a lucky punched coz he mastered this technique in many times during training(for PAC exclusively). That's the reasons he insisted! This was many times seen during their 3rd fight were JMM stumped PAC foot many times!

if its a punch that he practices, and hes had more than 40 rds to get it right, then i would say there was some fortune involved. by the same token, pac has had over 40 rds to try and land his version of that punch.

    It was constant practice/technique.
If you want to argue that the foot stepping was part of it then you may. (This can be taught, but most of the time it just happens when southpaws lace up against orthodox boxers).

So no, it wasn't a lucky punch on the terms that you are trying to insinuate.

I don't believe in the concept of a "lucky" punch in boxing.

    There was no luck envaved.

Did PAC contribute to the impact of JIM's punch?

    Of course!

But JIM still had to capitalize on PAC's blunder... and he did!

    Very skillfuly, I might add.

    No doubt,

My position in this has always been the same. JMM had all the technical advantage on his side and he's pretty much shadow boxing Pac when he sleeps.
Absolutely nothing should be taken away from JMM for the monumental victory that he scored over Pac. Nothing.

BUT, on the subject of "luck".

It was just the perfect punch that came at the most opportune time.
It came on the dying seconds of a round that Pac arguably won.
It came on a moment when he was bloodied bad and Pac starting to get the upper hand of the exchanges (albeit JMM was still controlling the distance very well, but let's be honest, JMM WAS AFFECTED and started to look sluggish after Pac scored a KD and then made a mess of his nose, regardless of what he claims on the post-interviews).
Pac was completely suspended mid-air (kinda like that brutal punch that almost had Pac slipping forward and down on Pac-JMM 2) when it hit. No way could JMM have timed his punch during training in that way and in that precision of time.
JMM and Nacho themselves were very much surprised by the KD and KO.

It's like what drove Lance Armstrong (I think -- not sure though) away from the sport of triathlon (doping aside).
He was well ahead of the the other competitors in the swimming leg of this triathlon race when somebody caught a lucky wave and caught up with him just like that.
    It wasn't skill at all.
The dude capitalized on an opportunity that he had absolutely no control over.
Could he have trained to do exactly that? Sure. But I don't think his plan involves sitting around at the middle of the pack to catch a big wave to propel him forward though.
Thus it was called a "lucky wave".

If that was a lucky punch then Pac got lucky vs Hatton.

Not a lucky punch by any stretch.

There's always luck. Babe Ruth didn't hit a home run every time he swung, he was just much more likely to do it than other players. Any particular at bat that he hit a home run on you could say he got lucky in some way for it to happen. Marquez hit his home run partially because the situation was right and partly because he elevated his chance of hitting it with skill and execution.

JMM landed that same punch since their first fight. all Juan would need to make it a KO punch is to bulk up and add more power, hence his size steroid-like physique on that 4th fight (didn't say he's on steroids tho), without compromising his weight so he can still have enough speed to counter pac's assault. add that with his skillful timing, we have the perfect punch.

i was amazed how Juan knocked down Pac in the 3rd round with just one punch.

By those same standards, does it mean that Pac was on PED during their first fight since he had 3 KD's but then only one in their next 2 fights?
