I'm of the opinion that 1) Canelo has never faced a real legit puncher in his career and 2) he can't handle a real punch and 3) he doesn't want to fight a real puncher.

My bottom line: I'm not sold on Canelo's punch resistance.

So to the question, do you believe Canelo handle a punch, a real one?

Look at his career, in recent memory, I guess the biggest puncher he's faced is a faded James Kirkland and who else? It's hard for me to think of one, off the top of my head. I would have to go through his boxrec to find out.

Also, How would Canelo fare if faced someone HIS OWN SIZE with punching power? That is something I would crave to see.

Jose Cotto had him badly hurt, but that was a long time ago in a different weight class. He has faced some decent punchers but I don't recall many bombs landing on him. He likely has an above average chin. That said, he usually significantly outweighs his opponents on fight night.

Canelo takes a punch very well, and has has the advantage of owning the thickest neck i've ever seen on a SWW. He's been in with better punchers than GGG, the guy people on here claim has the most iron beard in history.

Curtis Stevens,Lemieux,Rubio are better punchers than the midgets and completely shot punchers on Canelo`s resume.

Lemieux couldn't even knock out Rios, and looked pudgy and everything.. Canelo whoops him if they fight, then you'll get your question answered on whether Canelo can take a punch. But I seriously doubt you'll give him credit anyways.

In Lemieux defense , Rios has never been knocked out in his entire career .

So him failing to stop Rios is really no big deal .

You're not always going to knock out every opponent you fight .

But yes Canelo vs. Lemieux will finally reveal if Canelo can indeed absorb a MW punch .

Yeh because Rubio was so prime, and not a career SWW at all. Stevens and Lemieux can punch a bit, but both lack the skills to make their power count.

I think Canelo has a good chin, a very good chin actually but we will see just how good it is when he moves up to the full 160.

According to Canelo, James T. Kirkland and Alfredo Angulo were more proven as Golovkin and both are big punchers...

Yeah Canelo has a very good chin but the thing is he's always so much bigger than his opponents.

Its a question that is impossible to answer for most boxing fans who dont particulary rate him or consider the levels of opponent he has faced are worthy to give a truer reflection of his ability to absorb a punch...I would merely add that he carries power and hasnt looked troubled on to many occasions throughout his career!
