Possibly, yeah, I could believe it. I was surprised at some of the handspeed and shots that Roy was throwing against Hanshaw and Trinidad, but only in very small pockets. Jones has retained some of his superpower.

I belive he can but i also belive that today won't be able to sustain it enough to win a decision which limits him to a counterpunch KO win.

I'm a RJJ fan but i don't believe what Merk is saying...he's just doing his part in hyping up the fight IMO.

That sounds like Merkerson is trying to say that Roy can do much more than what he showed in the Trinidad fight...So I presume that would have to be in regards to combinations and movement !

He can do maybe some of things but not many. Roy is old and can't simply jump in and out like he used to. His legs are gone and he can't sustain an offense for a full 12 anymore. My pick for the fight though is a close decision in favor of Roy.

If he somehow found back part of his fluid feet movement, then his counterpunching will be a problem for Calzaghe...

It's bull****. Merkerson was raising the alarm bells in the camp long before he fought Tarver, as I recall.

I believe the first part of it - that Jones was badly compromised by coming back down to lightheavy after Ruiz. The last part - I have to say no. He won't get it all his old ability back. That said, he still has some speed left.:smoke:smoke

Just hyping i'd say. Though expect an improvement over the Trinidad performance he will be taking this fight a lot more seriously. But don't take that as some sorta justification to Merkerson's comments.

With his hands I can agree but for him to do things like he did in the 90's he will have to become untouchable again ..And after watching the Tito fight thats simply not the case ..
