No. Partly because the way he would approach his opponent from opening bell. Some times he'd press, or come out jabbing, some times very defensive and feinting a lot.

How would one know to do that unless you've studied your opponent and know how it affects said opponent?

They always maintained Roger did but Floyd didn't, which isn't uncommon. I believe Nacho Beristain watched tape by himself, though JMM watches and analyzes fights as a show analyst. Robert said he never let Maidana watch tape of Floyd, to not get discouraged, though Maidana was quoted as watching tape of Broner. Roach seemed to watch tape and then explain things to Manny.

That one time Floyd mentioned watching the Cotto-Mosley/Cotto-Judah fights, he seemed to make it a point to share.

When a fighter says they don't watch tape, they are lying through their teeth.

I fully believe Floyd never broke down film himself and left that task to his team. Doesn't mean he didn't benefit from their film study just means him doing it personally was not a part of his everyday program.

He said that he knew that Cotto was open to an uppercut from watching Judah fight. Not sure if he studied the fight or just picked that up when he watched it.

Hi Brother not seen you on a post for a few days. My suspicion is that some fighters will study tape on their opponents in detail and others won’t. I believe Mayweather has watched some of the guys on TV etc because he is a boxing fan but I don’t think he actively studied them in detail like his trainers his late Uncle Roger and Dad Big Floyd.

I wouldn’t believe Floyd if he said he breathes oxygen. Champion fighters are champion liars.

I remember him saying in sparring before the Ricky Hatton fight “now throw one of them Ricky Hatton hooks”, how would he know if he didn’t watch his fights? Pretty much all fighters at the top of the game study each other intensely, all this ‘I don’t watch the other guys fights’ is all bravado.

Well did he or did he not i don't know, however his record shows it worked.

May be he followed the quote that is attributed to a certain Mr R Marciano:

"I have always adhered to two principles. The first one is to train hard and get in the best possible physical condition. The second is to forget all about the other fellow until you face him in the ring and the bell sounds for the fight"
