    Of course...

A draw is far better than arbitrarily giving the fight to one of the fighters.

    I believe in draws.
If they didn't exist Lennox Lewis would no doubt have another loss on his record.

Just because the fight is a draw, doesn't mean the fighters performed equally. There are 12 rounds judged on a round by round basis. If a fighter wins 6 rounds by a wide margin and loses 6 by a close margin, then the fight is a draw. However, that fighter still perfomed better than his opponent throughout the whole fight.

A case of close but no cigar, I guess?

    P.S.
    Good explanation, btw.

No fight is completely equal even if the compubox numbers say so. Some punches land harder than others. Some people win close rounds some people dominate rounds. So in the end I don't think there are actual draws but if you go by the rules and score the rounds 10-9 regardless of how much they win by then there will be draws.

I don't understand this point at all. What if one man clearly wins 6 rounds and the other man clearly wins the other 6?? Of course I believe in a draw decision. What's the alternative, make an arbitrary and ultimately false and wrong decision on a fight, and leave a guy with a loss on his record, just to avoid a draw decision? Unacceptable, unfair, and wrong.

Is there a way to reflect who indeed performed better and thus award him the victory?

No because they judge the fight by round. If they just took notes throughout the fight without scoring each round and decided who won after the fight. People would forget some of the punches from earlier rounds. Boxing isn't a perfect sport but more times than not its a fair decision

I understand where you are coming from, Dinamita.

Let me rephrase my last question. In case you believe that after every bout, the outcome should be black and white, 1 winner, 1 loser, what can be done or need to be changed in the system to reward the boxer who performed better (throughout the whole fight, as described by BigReg)? Or is there no way to achieve it?

6 rounds to 6 CAN, and HAS, happened.

Even though I'm a big Izzy fan I think Marquez-Vasquez 3 should've ended in a draw. WOuld've been the perfect end to the series in my book.

I don't see anything wrong with draws mate, it just means rematches between well-matched fighters so I don't mind them at all.

BUT, since you asked for a suggestion, how about this...

...if after 12 rounds the fight is scored a draw, there is the Final Round! One final 5-minute round, and the winner of that round wins the fight. It's not perfect, but it would be damn exciting as both would be forced to go hell for leather to try and win! Imagine one guy scores an early KD, the other would have to go to war at breakneck speed and go hunting a KD with the clock ticking to avoid defeat! Surely an exciting climax? Of course that round could be drawn as well and if it was, then you'd just have to settle for a draw, but I do think the chances of a draw over a frantic last 5-minute round are slim. Surely one guy would wilt?
