He's absolutely adamant that he didn't know about the hard padding. He even said that if he had felt anything different punching, he would have asked his coach about the wraps. Roach and Pacquiao are laughing at the idea that he would be closing his eyes while his hands are getting wrapped. Do you think he's telling the truth? Or he just believes he is?
I dont know, but the padding in question, seemed so minuscule, that I guess its conceivable he did not notice it being put in, or if he did, that he thought nothing of it, that said, even if he is guilty, there is no question in my mind that this got blown out of all proportion.
What I was told by some people "allegedly in the know" that Margarito after having to cut 4 lbs the day of the weigh in his trainer told him not to worry that he would take care of it.... like Boxed Ears I would like to believe him
Honestly, AM doesn't seem like the sharpest tool in the shed. I kinda believe him that he really didn't have any idea about the padding.
Is that true that Roach and Pacquiao laughed, when they had the audacity to make the excuses that did for not accepting random blood and urine drug tests? At the very least, if Margarito happens to beatdown Manny Pacquiao, I hope that Roach is classy enough to then back Margarito and say something to the effect, "after what just happend tonight, I now know for sure that Margarito is'nt a cheat, and his past accomplishments have validity to them."
Margarito is no dummy, but Texas did right by granting him a license and give him a chance to prove that he's not a cheater.
Look. It's not like Capetillo put horseshoes in the gloves, as far as I can tell based on the released pictues, the extra pad was the same white material wrapped around where it is not allowed, and it's really hard to judge from behind a keyboard whether it made a freking difference from the other white material needed for a full wrap. It actually didn't make a difference for the professional officials who's job is to watch if everything goes well, and if Capetillo made illegal wraps before, then it didn't make a damn difference for a dozen commissioners and trainers. Even Nazim Richardson didn't spot that kind of material in the extra pad - he simply spotted an extra pad which should have been there, and only found the 'greasy' material when it was cut down and put in his hands. I read through the commission papers and they never ever said Margarito knew about the wraps and I simply cannot judge from my coach whether Tony knew about it or not. Impossible.
Yeah, if its so hard to believe Margarito didn't know, then why is it easier to believe that it escaped the attention of the commissioners who are supposed to be watching?
