Personally, I think Cotto was always too good for Mayweather to make it boring. Mayweather doesn't like to have bruises and a cut lip just for entertainment value, that's not the way his mindset works. Remember when he said something like theres nothing great about taking punches in reference to Arturro Gatti.

Cotto certainty gave floyd no option but to come out and take the fight to cotto. There were times money looked nervous and uncomfortable in the corner but credit were credit is due, money dug deep and showed his class.

That should be enough without resorting to selling bull**** to the gullible on how he consciously allowed himself to take shots to the head as a gift towards his devoted fans.

I believe Cotto had a good gameplan, and Floyd got caught in some rounds. That wasn't entirely FLoyd. I guess you'll know which rounds Floyd got his way and which Cotto got his.

I dont think Floyd expected it to be that though. He thought he could just walk through Cotto but Cotto had none of that.

He chose to fight in the pocket and let his hands go and roll Cotto's punches in close, he could have made it all about the jab and counter right at range. Whether he has the legs for that now is another matter, Mayweather likes to rest on the ropes before rallying back and Cotto is a very good pressure fighter

Some of you are looking too deep into this ****. Yes Floyd took a bit of punishment but it wasn't a lot. The jab busted his nose. So what. We have seen him bleed before. Cotto did a great job in cutting off the ring but there were plenty of times when Floyd could have just spun him and got off the ropes which would have made the fight a little easier. If Floyd would have fought the first 6 to 7 rounds like he fought the 12th every hater on this board would have said it was a boring fight.

Yes Cotto pushed him to the ropes by cutting off the ring but Floyd could have gotten his ass off them ropes several times and taking away 6 or 7 of those exchanges on the ropes. That is what he is talking about in my opinion.

no. I don't think he'd have won if he was running, as cooto is at his best going forward.

I think his plan was to get cotto on his backfoot, as hecant fight on his back foot. thats why he did that to ortiz. Floyd did what he could to win.

If floyd fought Pac. He'd fight on the Pac foot nd counter him, because he knows if he tried to close him down he'd lose.

No way do i believe floyd fought that way for the fans.

I think he could havee used the strategy from the first 5 rds and he wouldn't have got touched as much but regardless, he fought the Jr. Middle weight champion.at his weight (in which Floyd couldn't even make 154) in Cotto, who not only probaly came in to the ring at 165 but also had a real trainer in his corner, had 3 prior stoppages, and was riding a waive of confidence ....... So it wasn't suppose to be a cakewalk for Floyd.

Its beyond question, when Floyd exected to fight at range, Cotto couldnt get anywhere near him.
It was a tough fight in terms of physical exertion the way he fought, and made it more exciting, but Mayweather showeed he can fight a completely different way, against the strongest guy at 154, and win MINIMUM 10 of 12 rounds.

By hitting him with 3 jabs, half a hook, and half block body shot? DLH hit more arms than cottto did. Blood is a powerful thing.

Damn, after being cornered by Ortiz, Oscar, Hatton, Castillo, Chavez, and Augustus, people think Floyd could have simply had his way in the center of the ring every round? I don't get it.

The only reason Cotton heard the final bell is because of the 10 oz gloves! And it was the same with dela hoya. Mayweather doesn't punch hard enough for 154! Plain and simple. The huge gloves take away what little pop he does have not to mention the. Sheild it gives his opponents. If they fought at 247 Floyd would have stopped cotton. And dela hoya too. It was zArrogant and stupid of him to fight a bigger Guy with 10oz gloves knowing he can't punch. He'll. Be fine if he never fights over 147 again.

People saying that he held back on Cotto are ******ed. If Floyd had the ability to make this like the Gatti fight, he would have done it.
