In hindsight, relative unknown Wallin had one big night against an overconfident Fury in which he struck gold with a freak cut in the 3rd round and still lost 9-3.

He beat Breazeale 9-3 in 2021, who retired after and hadn't fought in 21 months since being KO'd in 1 by Wilder. And in 2023 he got a 7-5 over a largely inactive Gassiev, whose only wins worth talking about to this day are against cruiserweight titlists/contenders in 2016-2018.

Post-Povetkin Whyte thought Wallin was dangerous enough to duck after the Breazeale win, pulling out 9 days from the fight despite home and A-side advantage. This contributed to the perception that Wallin may have been top 10.

By the time Wallin fought Joshua and 41 year old Chisora he was largely coming for the paydays. He was a former sparring partner of Joshua's, he didn't believe he could win unless Joshua had declined massively. He said he'd considered retirement after the Joshua loss.

He clearly was a few years back, just sneaking into the top 10.

Just looks bad now cause he's been on such horrendous form since.

Said this 4 years ago as well.

There were a number of people on here who were proclaiming him as a legit top 10 threat and at no point in time did I understand that. He ultimately never proved he could beat anyone in the top 10 and then when he finally got the opportunity to fight top 10-15 opponents, he folded up like a paper airplane...............even against a "walking the green mile" former top 10 fighter. He simply wasn't very elite.
