Do you blame fighters for avoiding certain matchups?

Yea, I blame them. Money is used as an permissible excuse way too much in this sport, and in society. You can fuxk the public over as long as you're making 'smart business moves'.

 

Yes I do blame them. Excessively wealthy people bemoaning the amount of money they're going to make for a month or two's hard work once a year :roll:. It's just an excuse. The most annoying thing is reading fans arguing it as a point.

 

I don't blame Cotto or Mosley, they fight the best so they get a pass on Paul Williams.

 

I'd have to say yes. I can't stand con jobs who endlessly talk the talk and try to convince everyone they are worthy of high end pay days, yet never commit to and go through with fights they know are going to be truly competitive, where they have a reasonable chance of losing. Those jokers need to quit boxing and go join the fake wrestling circuit. Avoiding match-ups is basically like saying "I am a *****, let me fight who I choose". True warriors take on all comers.

if you are on your way up i think you can pick and chose who you fight to suit you to get to the top.
but a champion should fight who ever has earned the right to challenge him as he is the champ and should fight anyone who has earned to challenge,whether they suit his style or not.
thats what being the true champion is all about imo.

I don't blame fighters if they avoid one main guy but fight the best generally. Mosley is not fighting Williams, but I think he figures that fight is just too tough. But he has fought almost everyone, so you have to give him the benefit of just knowing who would be a bad matchup. Williams would be a bad matchup for most everyone at welterweight, although any fight is winnable and with Williams height, if a fighter like Mosley could get to Williams body it could turn the fight around.
